Claire Foy secretly battled a “disgusting” parasite infection for five years.
The “Crown” star — who believes she picked up the parasite during a trip to Morroco — was forced to give up caffeine as she struggled to fight off the years-long infection.
“I kept losing weight and I didn’t know what was going on,” she said on Tuesday’s episode of “Table Manners With Jessie and Lennie Ware” podcast. “I was just like, ‘I’m eating everything.’ I was so hungry.”
When host Jessie Ware asked if she got diagnosed with the infection through a blood or stool test, Foy replied, “Yeah, the gross stuff.”
Parasitic infections are diseases caused by organisms that live off of another living thing. They can cause fever, fatigue, intestinal symptoms, skin rashes or neurological symptoms, per the Cleveland Clinic.
“They travel as a pair. I got told by the doctor, gross, absolutely rank. It’s disgusting,” the two-time Emmy winner continued, noting that she thinks she lived with the infection for “at least five years.”
In order to get rid of the parasite, Foy began a strict diet that included cutting out caffeine so she wouldn’t have to take antibiotics.
Foy admitted that giving up caffeine wasn’t easy as she used to drink “at least 15 cups of tea a day” along with two coffees, but decided to permanently cut it out of her diet even after the parasite had been effectively treated.
Two “Real Housewives” stars Brandi Glanville and Vicki Gunvalson also claimed to have contracted parasitic infections in Morocco — although their symptoms manifested much differently than Foy’s.
Glanville was left with a facial disfigurement, while Gunvalson shared that she continued to feel “sluggish” over two years after their trip to Morocco and experienced bloating and constant fatigue.
“I don’t go poop. Like, it’s very hard for me. It might be once a week, if that. It’s a pellet that comes out. That’s it,” she said on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live” in July 2025.
She claimed that after starting a colonics treatment she was told her “gut” is “loaded with parasites” and that she takes Ivermectin “twice a month” to kill them.
