Ever wonder what your favorite celebrities are reading — whether it’s a timeless classic or the buzzy bestseller they can’t put down? Welcome to Page-Turners, where stars reveal the books that keep them hooked, inspired and up all night. Warning: your TBR pile is about to get a lot longer.
Though she’s known for her twisty thrillers like “The Housemaid” and “Never Lie,” Freida McFadden loves to read all kinds of genres.
“When it comes to reading, I like to skip around between genres so I don’t get bored,” McFadden — whose new book, “Dear Debbie,” is on sale now — tells Page Six.
She adds, “Reading is one of my absolute favorite activities, and I’ve always got a book (or Kindle) in my hands! If a book is popular, I will read it just to see what the fuss is all about… and often, the fuss is very much deserved!”
McFadden jokes it was “agonizing” and “nearly impossible” picking only a few of her favorite books.

“While I’m a thriller author, I’m also a romantic at heart. Nobody does a romantic comedy like the great Sophie Kinsella, and this particular one made me both laugh and cry. On a personal note, her final autobiographical novella inspired me to step out of my comfort zone, and I’ll be forever grateful to this incredible woman.”
“‘Rebecca’ is a haunting masterpiece that is the mother of every gothic thriller. Mandalay lingers in the back of my mind every time I read about an isolated mansion full of dark secrets.”
“I believe this book reinvented the modern domestic thriller. Even more than a decade after reading it, ‘Gone Girl’ still lives rent-free in the back of my head.”
“I’ve never read a book that was so much like taking a ride in an amusement park. ‘Jurassic Park’ has an incredible scientific premise, executed perfectly, and it’s easy to see why this book spawned a franchise. And I admit it — it’s also one of my favorite movies!”
“As a female author who attempts to create crowd-pleasing, fun books, this novel felt like a must-read. ‘Scandalous Women’ is a fictionalized historical novel about Jackie Collins and Jacqueline Susann that is equal parts heartwarming and empowering.”
“As a physician specializing in brain-related disorders, I found ‘Still Alice’ to be a masterfully done account of a woman coming to terms with an early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Lisa Genova is a neuroscientist herself whose books are all so authentic and heartfelt.”
