Brad Pitt’s F1 was torched by passionate Wicked fans who were enraged the racing film was headed to the Oscars instead of their beloved musical adaptation.
Despite receiving accolades and nominations at other awards shows, Wicked: For Good was completely snubbed at the 2026 Academy Awards nominations.
F1, on the other hand, received four Oscar nominations – including the top prize of Best Picture.
Outraged fans took to X to express their disbelief over the fact the Academy had decided to recognize F1 over Wicked: For Good, with one even comparing it to the ‘apocalypse.’
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Pitt, who both stars in and is among the film’s producers, for comment.
‘How the F**K does F1 get nominated and Wicked: For Good does not!?’ one wrote.

The movie starred Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande and while it has received nominations from other organizations, apparently failed to impress The Academy
‘It’s wild that they nominated F1 for best picture instead of Wicked: For Good,’ one person tweeted. ‘What the actual f**k is F1 doing as a best picture nominee of the year lmao.’
‘I can’t believe F1 got nominated but not wicked???’ another mused. ‘Crazy work.’
‘F1 but no wicked? Are we serious?’ another posted.
‘F1 getting a best picture nominee over wicked…. The only thing that movie should be nominated for is the soundtrack like,’ another posted.
‘wicked for good leaving empty handed while f1 has more than one nomination, it’s the apocalypse,’ another wrote.
Wicked: For Good had impressed other organizations, however, receiving nominations at both the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards, among others.
Which was part of the reason their absence from the Oscar nominations list was all the more glaring.
The Oscar nominations were announced Thursday morning and saw Ryan Coogler’s Sinners film making Academy Awards history.
The film earned a record 16 nominations, including the biggest prize of the night, Best Picture.
Fans were in disbelief, with one tweeting, ‘F1 but no wicked? Are we serious?’

The horror flick is one of the ten titles up for the honor as the field is rounded out by: Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Train Dreams.
Jessie Buckley will no doubt be the favorite in the Actress in a Leading Role category for her work in Hamnet as she will face a star-studded field including Rose Byrne – If I Had Legs I would Kick You, Kate Hudson – Song Sung Blue, Renate Reinsve – Sentimental Value and Emma Stone – Bugonia.
There was massive fan backlash as Ariana Grande was snubbed in the Actress in a Supporting Role category for Wicked: For Good. Last year, she was nominated for her work in the first film of the musical franchise.
Some were happy to see Wicked had failed to make the running
Perhaps even more shocking was Wicked: For Good was completely shut out of nominations including one for Grande’s co-star Cynthia Erivo for Best Actress, Best Picture.
It also missed out on nods for Best Original Song despite new numbers written for the film, including No Place Like Home sung by Erivo and The Girl In The Bubble sung by Grande.
Meanwhile, the nominees for Actress in a Supporting role included: Elle Fanning – Sentimental Value, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Amy Madigan – Weapons, Wunmi Mosaku – Sinners, and Teyana Taylor – One Battle After Another.
In addition to Grande’s snub, Gwyneth Paltrow was left off the list in the category for her work in Marty Supreme.

When it came to Actor in a Supporting Role, the star-studded field includes: Benicio del Toro – One Battle After Another, Jacob Elordi – Frankenstein, Delroy Lindo – Sinners, Sean Penn – One Battle After Another, and Stellan Skarsgard – Sentimental Value.
Paul Mescal for Hamnet, Adam Sandler for Jay Kelly, and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia are considered to be major snubs in this category.
The Best Director category is filled with some of the greatest filmmakers of the modern era as Chloé Zhao – Hamnet, Josh Safdie – Marty Supreme, Paul Thomas Anderson – One Battle After Another, Joachim Trier – Sentimental Value, and Ryan Coogler – Sinners, all were recognized.
There was a new award announced this year for Best Casting as the inaugural field includes: Nina Gold – Hamnet, Jennifer Venditti – Marty Supreme, Cassandra Kulukundis – One Battle After Another, Gabriel Domingues – The Secret Agent, and Francine Maisler – Sinners.
Best Animated Feature Film nods went to Arco, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amelie Or the Character Of Rain, and Zootopia 2.
