Bec Hewitt is reportedly struggling with empty nest syndrome as her three children grow older and carve out independent lives away from home.
The former Home and Away star, 42, shares children Mia, 20, Cruz, 17, and Ava, 15, with her tennis champion husband Lleyton Hewitt – and insiders say she is finding the transition difficult.
‘As the kids get older, Bec’s seeing less and less of them, which makes her sad. She’s twiddling her thumbs,’ an insider tells this week’s New Idea magazine.
‘Trying to find something meaningful to do with all of her spare time… she’s finding it difficult.’
Bec’s children are all forging their own paths; her eldest daughter Mia is embracing a free-spirited ‘hippie era’, touring the country with her indie band Father’s Favourite.
Son Cruz, meanwhile, is carving out a future in tennis, determined to step out from his famous father’s shadow.

Even the youngest, Ava – Bec’s mini–me – is rarely home, juggling dance rehearsals with an increasingly busy social life as her TV ambitions gather pace.
‘They love their mum – and Lleyton does, too – but they’re all so busy they can’t see that Bec is actually finding it tough without them,’ the source added.
‘Bec’s happy the kids are all following their dreams… but she can’t help but feel like she has no one at the moment.’
They added that Lleyton, 44, was trying to help, suggesting that Bec reach out to some of her friends during this time – but she was reluctant to do so.
‘Lleyton has been telling Bec to reach out to some of her girlfriends, like Isla [Fisher], to help her get her mojo back, or some of her old TV contacts, but Bec is a private person. The last thing she wants is to throw a pity party,’ they said.
Another source said it was the perfect time for Bec to return to Summer Bay, reprising her role as Hayley Smith on Home and Away for the first time since 2005.
‘Even if it was just a guest role. Why not? Stephen Peacocke and Bonnie Sveen’s recent decision to reprise their roles could be just the encouragement she needs to return to her old stomping ground,’ they said.
Bec rose to fame playing beloved character Hayley Smith Lawson from 1998 to 2005 – she exited the series when she fell pregnant with Mia.

In December 2024, it was reported that Bec’s daughter Mia appears to be following in her famous mother’s footsteps – but not everyone is happy about it.
Mia was pictured on the set of Australia’s second longest–running TV series in Palm Beach – 26 years after it made her mum a household name.
However, a Channel Seven spokesperson exclusively told Daily Mail that Australian tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt and Bec’s daughter has been working on the show for well over a year.
‘Mia has been a casual wardrobe assistant for the last 1.5 years and is a part of the Home and Away family,’ they said in a statement.
Mia started up a folk-rock duo with her friend Claudia Ros called Father’s Favourite and in a photo dump shared to the band’s Instagram, the teen rockers labelled themselves ‘The Queens of King Street’.
The main road in Sydney’s Newtown is the beating heart of the suburb’s eclectic live music, arts, and foodie scene that’s beloved by starving artists and the LGBTQ+ community.
But starving artist, Mia is not.
When the young performer wraps up her gigs in dive bars around Sydney’s Inner West, she most likely returns home to her parents’ $10.3million Glenhaven’s Estate.
Lleyton’s net worth is rumoured to be over $20million from his tennis career and various sponsorships.
