Anthony Joshua is one of the most successful heavyweight boxers of his generation, rising to global prominence after winning Olympic gold at London 2012 before turning professional later that year. He became a two-time unified heavyweight world champion, holding the IBF, WBA and WBO titles, and scored high-profile victories over fighters including Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, and Andy Ruiz Jr, avenging his shock loss to Ruiz with a dominant points win in their 2019 rematch. Joshua later lost his titles to Oleksandr Usyk in back-to-back defeats in 2021 and 2022, before continuing his career in a series of comeback bouts. Most recently, he had a high-profile fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, where he broke Jake’s jaw.
After news of the incident, Jake posted on X, “Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.”
