Stephen Graham delivers a gut-wrenching performance in Adolescence, Netflix’s bold four-part drama that tackles knife crime, online misogyny, and the failings of modern parenting. Set in a working-class Yorkshire community, the story begins with 13-year-old Jamie Miller being arrested for the murder of his classmate, Katie.
But Adolescence isn’t a simple crime drama. It’s a painfully realistic deep dive into how social alienation and incel ideology can distort young teenage minds. The subtle symbolism – such as a tear in the wallpaper shaped like a dagger – make you want to watch it more than once.
Created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, the drama focuses on conversations rather than conclusions. It doesn’t offer easy answers but insists we ask urgent questions: what are we really teaching our children? And what are they looking at online when we’re not looking?
Owen Cooper is terrifyingly brilliant in his acting debut, shifting seamlessly between vulnerable child and chilling perpetrator.
Shot in seamless single takes, Adolescence pulls you straight into the emotional chaos. The final scene is pure devastation.

Murder in the White House. If you love a good murder mystery with a twist of absurdity, The Residence is your next Netflix obsession. Set during a glamorous (and chaotic) White House state dinner, the series kicks off with a dead body and 157 suspects, plus a detective who snacks on sardines.
Written by Paul William Davies, The Residence is as much about character as it is about crime. While it doesn’t carry a deep political message, it delivers laughter, intrigue, and just enough chaos to keep you guessing. Uzo Aduba dazzles in this mysterious comedy/drama – or ‘dramedy’ – with plenty of satire.
