An attorney for Wendy Williams’ temporary financial guardian Sabrina Morrissey wants to set the record straight about her claims she’s ‘imprisoned’ at an assisted living facility in New York.
The 60-year-old elder law attorney was originally appointed by a Manhattan judge in 2022 after the 60-year-old presenter’s ex-manager Bernie Young reportedly raised concerns that she was of ‘unsound mind,’ which also led to Wells Fargo freezing her bank accounts.
That same judge declared Wendy legally incapacitated last August – a year after she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, but she sounded a lot like her old self in recent interviews as well as the Tubi documentary Saving Wendy.
Sabrina’s lawyer told TMZ on Wednesday that Williams is receiving ‘excellent medical care’ at the facility, which features a ‘spa, a workout room, excellent food, a dining room, and outside terraces.’

But the five-time Daytime Emmy nominee claimed she can only leave the fifth floor memory unit with permission.
Morrisey’s rep said Wendy has lots of freedom and can call family and friends and see them whenever she wants despite her public claims she has not been allowed visitors.
They noted Williams traveled to Florida twice to see family, but the second trip to attend her father’s 94th birthday was nearly canceled by a judge until Saving Wendy was released.
On Monday, the former talk show host went to Lenox Hill Hospital to have an independent psychiatrist conduct a cognitive test on her, which she passed with ‘flying colors.’
Hours later, Wendy called Good Day New York’s Rosanna Scotto on the air and said: ‘I want [to be] independently tested. That’s what I want, and that’s what I got.’
Scotto asked Williams if the Morrissey & Morrissey, LLP manager was ‘taking out fees every month’ from her bank account, but she said they would talk ‘off air’ about the matter.
Sabrina’s lawyer clarified to TMZ that she has ‘received one payment of less than $30K for services rendered. Since 2022, the guardian has worked without pay. Only the Court will determine how much and when Ms. Morrissey is paid for her services rendered.’
