Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde starrer Deva has been released on the big screen. The film is directed by Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews and also stars Pavail Gulati, Kubbra Sait etc in key roles. Deva is one of the most anticipated releases of the year which is an action crime thriller film.
Deva marks Shahid’s first collaboration with Pooja Hegde and Rosshan has also made his Bollywood debut. According to media reports, Deva is the remake of the 2013 release Malayalam film Mumbai Police. The film was helmed by Rosshan Andrrewws. Deva has managed to grab attention with its trailer and chartbuster song. Well, the fans are quite curious to know the fate of Deva at the box office.
In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat, film business expert Rohit Jaiswal suggested that Shahid’s film is expected to have a decent start at the box office. The film is likely to earn Rs 6-8 crores.
After Deva’s trailer was released, fans were busy comparing it with Shahid starrer Kabir Singh which was released in 2019. Since then fans have been speculating if Deva can beat Kabir Singh and Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2. As per various reports, Deva will fail to surpass the opening day collection of Kabir Singh as it managed to earn Rs 20.21 crores on its first day.
During an interview with Zoom, Shahid said, “So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn’t want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. They’re these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don’t have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They’re raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha”.

According to a report by Koimoi, by 12:00 PM, Shahid’s film had already been scheduled for over 7,000 shows. The film is expected to touch 8,000 shows soon. Will Deva beat Pushpa 2? Allu Arjun starrer was made on a budget of Rs 350 crores, while Shahid’s Deva has been made on a budget of Rs 85 crores.
