Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency was released in theatres on January 17, 2025. The actress has acted, directed, and produced the political drama. Ranaut portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the same. It is Kangana’s theatrical release after 2 years. The movie received mixed responses from fans and critics alike. The film clashed with Ajay Devgn, Aamand Devgan, and Rasha Thadani’s Azaad at the box office.
Emergency Box Office Collection Day 1
The first-day box office collection of Kangana Ranaut’s film is out. On its first day, Emergency’s collection is Rs 2.35 crores. It is the highest opening for Ranaut after a gap of 5 years post-pandemic. As reported by Hindustan Times, Ranaut’s 2023 film Tejas had an opening of Rs 1.25 crore. In 2022, her film Dhaakad witnessed a Rs 1.2 crore opening.
Further in this entertainment news, her 2021 political drama, Thalaivi, earned Rs 1.46 crore on day 1. In the same, Kangana Ranaut portrayed late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. It was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The actress’ theatrical release before the pandemic was Panga, which opened to Rs 2.70 crores. The sports drama was helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari.
Meanwhile, Emergency also stars Anupam Kher as Jayprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Milind Soman as Sam Manekshaw. Now that it’s the weekend, it would be interesting to see how much collection the political drama makes in these two days.
