Chuck Potthast’s cause of death has been revealed nearly three months after his passing at age 64.
The 90 Day Fiancé star’s passing had been announced by his family late last year in November, leaving his loved ones ‘completely shattered.’
Potthast died from blunt force injuries to the face and neck following a fall in a bathtub, per documents obtained by TMZ from the Hillsborough County, Florida Medical Examiner on Friday.
Other injuries that the TV personality had sustained included a fractured vertebra and lacerations to the face.
The documents also listed positional asphyxia as an additional cause in his death.
Contributing factors including chronic alcohol use, acute alcohol intoxication and liver cirrhosis were additionally listed.

His daughter Elizabeth Castravet had shared the devastating news of Potthast’s passing in an Instagram post shared last year on November 23.
‘Two weeks ago, tragedy struck our family and it has left us completely shattered. My sweet, loving, and caring dad went to heaven.’
She added, ‘We’re trying to figure out how to navigate our lives and move forward without him. Please respect our privacy during this extremely difficult time.’
Castravet – who also appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? – additionally included a photo of herself posing with her father, husband Andrei and their two children.
The reality star’s sister Becky also confirmed the heartbreaking passing of Potthast on social media at the time.
‘Two weeks ago on this day my world became distorted into a place I don’t understand,’ she wrote.
‘My father Chuck went home to be with The Lord. The pain is still more than I can bare so this is all I can write.’
Back in September 2025 – two months before his death – Potthast had undergone a procedure to fix a hernia.

He had shared an update while filming himself in a hospital bed – with the clip being uploaded to the @90dayfianceupdate Instagram page.
‘My surgery was supposed to be about three to four hours long to fix hernias from my previous cancer operations that had developed,’ he explained at the time.
‘Once they got in there, they seen that my stomach wall had completely collapsed, so they had to fix that, which they did.’
The surgery had originally been estimated to be around three to four hours long, but ended up lasting eight hours.
However, Potthast stayed positive and humorously told his fans, ‘The benefit is I have a flat stomach now, which is cool.’
The TV personality then sent gratitude for the support he has received.
‘I wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It really helped me get through it.’
