Peacock has a very strong lineup of newly arrived movies heading into the middle of December, including a few you may not have seen in theaters.
Some of the best titles available aren’t even Christmas-related, which is a nice option to have this holiday season.
The Watch With Us team has narrowed the selection down to the three great Peacock movies to binge-watch this weekend.
Our picks include a world-famous director’s take on his life, the return of a legendary vampire and an underrated thriller that should have been a monster hit.
‘The Fabelmans’ (2022)
The Fabelmans is both and isn’t the story of director Steven Spielberg, but apparently, it was close enough to his life that he didn’t make the film until both of his parents had passed. Gabriel LaBelle stars as Sammy Fabelman, the teenage aspiring filmmaker whose parents, Mitzi (Michelle Williams) and Burt Fabelman (Paul Dano), don’t fully understand his passion for storytelling.
This family has some stories to tell of their own, and through the lens of his camera, Sammy discovers a secret that could tear his parents apart. Love may not be enough to hold the Fabelmans together, but Sammy’s journey is a transformative experience that reshapes the way he sees the world and the people who are closest to him.

‘Renfield’ (2023)
You think your boss is bad? Try working for Dracula, as played by Nicolas Cage. The title character of Renfield is played by Nicholas Hoult, and he’s had more than enough of Dracula’s abuse and over a century of eating bugs. So he starts to break away from his master and attend self-help groups to retake control of his life.
Renfield may not be a vampire, but he has more than enough power to kill some criminals when threatened. He also forms a bond with a human, Officer Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina), which is a new experience for him. But when Dracula discovers what his servant is up to, he’s not going to let Renfield simply walk away. This is a comedy, but Dracula remains just as deadly as ever, and Renfield may pay the price for crossing him.
Renfield is streaming on Peacock.
‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ (2011)
Since Wake Up Dead Man is playing on a rival streamer, it’s worth looking back at Daniel Craig‘s lead performance in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Craig had a very different persona as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who has recently been disgraced by a libel suit that may ruin his career. Businessman Henrik Vange (Christopher Plummer) may have the evidence that Mikael needs to exonerate himself, but first, he wants Blomkvist to solve a mystery that’s haunted his family for decades.
That’s where the title character, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), enters the story like a force of nature. Lisbeth is a preternaturally gifted hacker, but that’s not what makes her special. Mikael recruits Lisbeth for his case because she has a brilliant analytical mind and a ruthless streak that serves her well when going up against some truly evil men. The question isn’t whether Mikael and Lisbeth will solve the mystery — it’s whether they’ll survive an encounter with a killer.
