The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies has taken to social media to share an all too common festive season experience – almost missing that holiday flight out of town.

The 58-year-old Channel Seven star was heading off on a jaunt with her family on Tuesday when she was caught up in wild scenes at Sydney Airport.

Posting a series of selfie videos to her stories, Kylie chronicled the pre-Christmas chaos at the domestic terminal, including long queues, luggage mix-ups, and overcrowded terminals.

‘An hour and 20 later, we’re through [the queue],’ Kylie said in the clip.

Accompanied by her husband Tony Gillies and their son Archie, Kylie confessed that she had made a mistake while making the travel arrangements.

‘Did I mention the bit where I forgot to book Archie’s luggage? He’s now deserted us…he said he’d meet us at the gate,’ she said in the clip.

Tony likened the family moment to a Christmas movie classic: ‘It’s like Home Alone.’

After thanking the airline staff for getting the mix-up sorted, Kylie admitted she sent her 22-year-old son back into the long queue to sort out a new baggage check.

Elsewhere in the post, Kylie shared a photo of an exasperated-looking Archie sitting on a suitcase while waiting for the massive queue to move forward.

Kylie also shared images of a lengthy lineup of passengers outside the terminal.

‘Can somebody put the turkey on? We may not make it by Christmas Day,’ she joked in the caption.

Kylie shared a picture from her seat revealing that she and her family made it safely on board their plane ahead of takeoff.

‘I’ll let the in-flight entertainment take over now,’ she joked, and added: ‘Thank you for your attention. Safe travels.’

It comes after Kylie recently began a new chapter after her eldest son moved to Berlin to pursue his ‘dream job’.

The Seven network veteran shared a few tearful snaps on Sunday as she waved goodbye to 23-year-old Gus at Sydney Airport – and some thoughts on being an empty nester.

‘I read somewhere that you shouldn’t say to your children, “You make me so proud.” Because that’s making it about you,’ the 58-year-old began the Instagram post.

‘Instead you SHOULD say to them, “You should be so proud of YOURSELF.” I understand the sentiment.’

‘So with that in mind, we hope Gus is proud as he takes his next big leap all the way to Berlin for his dream job.’

Despite being happy for her son and his new adventure, Kylie admitted that it had been challenging watching Gus move to the other side of the globe.

‘We’ve been wobbly these last few days after squeezing him tightly and saying goodbye at the International Airport.

‘His last weeks in Sydney were filled with fond farewells with friends, family, feline cuddles, and Grandma. Go get ’em Gus. We love you,’ she finished off the heartfelt post.

In the pictures, Kylie could be seen with tears in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around her eldest son, who towered over his emotional mum.
