Taylor Sheridan‘s fan-favorite series Landman has been renewed for a third season — but when will it premiere?

Director Stephen Kay recently teased when Landman would return, telling The Hollywood Reporter, that the creators are “cutting while we’re shooting and so it’ll hopefully be out soon.”

The plan is to condense two parts of the development cycle to avoid a long wait between seasons. This would mean either a late 2026 release or early 2027.

Inspired by the “Boomtown” podcast series, Landman centers around the West Texas oil industry, with a specific focus on crisis executive Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) and his family. Season 2, which premiered in October 2025, set Paramount+ viewership records after securing over 9.2 million streaming views for its premiere episode in the first two days on service. Views increased from the first season premiere, making it the most watched premiere for any original series for Paramount+.

During the season 2 finale, which aired in January, Cooper (Jacob Lofland) convinced Ariana (Paulina Chávez) to report her sexual assault to the police. As a result, Cooper was questioned after it turned out that the man responsible for the assault died from a heart attack after he was taken to the hospital.

Once Cooper’s dad, Tommy, caught wind of the situation, he made sure his son wouldn’t be charged with a crime he didn’t commit. With help from Rebecca (Kayla Wallace), Tommy was able to stop the authorities from arresting Cooper.

Tommy also dealt with the aftermath of being fired by Cami (Demi Moore) by creating his own oil company. He got all of his former coworkers — and family — on board by hiring Cooper, Ariana, Rebecca, Dale (James Jordan), T.L. (Sam Elliott), Nathan (Colm Feore), Boss (Mustafa Speaks), King (Dougie Hall) and Cheyenne (Francesca Xuereb).

Before creating his own company, Tommy received an investment from Gallino (Andy Garcia) after questioning his connections to the drug cartel earlier in the season. There was also Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) struggling with the college cheerleading team — while at the same time making friends with her former roommate, who she decided to move back in with at the end of the finale.

The over-the-top story lines are a staple in Sheridan’s hit Paramount+ show. Before the season 2 finale, Randolph, 28, reflected on getting “a mix of some feminist negativity” and praise for her characters in Sheridan’s 1923 and Landman.

“It’s all of the above. I’ve had to stop letting myself get defensive over my character because when you spend so much time in someone else’s head space, you start to understand their logic,” she explained in Interview Magazine. “For Ainsley [on Landman], I couldn’t be more different than her, but I also adore her. I like to say she’s not dumb, she just has limited life experience, and we’re seeing her in her most formative years.”

Randolph appreciated the challenge, adding, “How lucky to play a character who is continually evolving. It’s challenged me in a lot of ways — what is on the page is so different than what you see on screen. I’ve tried to add in how genuine and sincere she is so there are more redeeming qualities.”

Landman is currently streaming on Paramount+.
