Sholay The Final Cut X Review: Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra starrer Sholay has returned to the silver screens with a 4K version and implementation of the original climax. The film was released in theatres on December 12, which also marks the 50th year of the film’s director, Ramesh Sippy. Sholay: The Final Cut has been receiving all the love from the audience and is expected to create havoc at the box office once again after 50 years. It would be interesting to see if it manages to hold the legacy that it has been carrying for the past five decades.

About Sholay The Final Cut

The movie focuses on a retired police officer, Thakur Baldev Singh, who hires two criminals, Jai and Veeru, to fight against a wanted dacoit, Gabbar Singh. The two criminals trap the dacoit, and as per the original climax, Thakur kills the dacoit to take revenge for his sons’ and daughter-in-law’s murder. The cult classic movie stars Amitabh Bachchan as Jaidev aka Jai, Dharmendra as Veeru, Sanjeev Kumar as Thakur Baldev Singh (a retired Police Officer), Hema Malini as Basanti (Veeru’s love interest), Jaya Bachchan as Radha (Thakur’s daughter-in-law) and Amjad Khan as Gabbar Singh (a wanted dacoit). The film was initially released in theatres on August 15, 1975. At that time, the film had a box office run till 1980. The movie then collected Rs 15 crore domestically and Rs 30 crore globally. After 50 years of its initial release, the film has been accepted by the audience similarly to before.
