Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has strongly denied recent rumors surrounding his personal life.
Following his announcement of separation from his wife, Dani, speculation emerged suggesting infidelity. According to a radio station in Catalonia, his wife would have cheated on him with a personal coach.
Ter Stegen: “The damage is irreparable”
The German, 32 years old, called out the recent media reports as false and unacceptable.
In an unprecedented social media statement, Ter Stegen condemned the allegations, criticizing the spread of misinformation and the personal attacks against his ex-wife.
“As communicated, Dani and I have decided to go different ways in good circumstances where we maintain trustful communication. It is completely unacceptable that the leading government-owned media is spreading this, where Daniela is being falsely accused and personally attacked. The damage is irreparable. Thank you. Marc,” he wrote.
Ter Stegen has more than a decade in Barcelona
The 32-year-old, who has been at Barcelona since 2014, is currently recovering from a knee injury but is expected to return to action soon. Marc-André ter Stegen won five La Liga titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy with the blaugrana team, among other awards.
Until his move to Spain, the German goalie had played in his native country for Borussia Mönchengladbach, a team from the city where he was born.
