Local actress Tay Ying, 30, and her celebrity chef husband Wu Sihan, 34, are venturing into the dessert business with their artisanal gelato brand Atelier 27.
The couple announced the launch on Instagram on Sept 9, introducing it as a gelato atelier focused on “thoughtful flavours, craftsmanship and creativity”.
They explained that the number 27 has a personal significance for them, as it is “the date that connects both of us through our birth dates”.
For its first launch, Atelier 27 offers the Petit Lune Collection, a Mid-Autumn themed range comprising four creations in Chocolate, Passionfruit with Feuilletine; Strawberry, Pepper Ganache with Poprocks, Kaya Toast with Coffee Shortbread, and Oolong Mango Shortbread flavours. A box of four pieces costs $72.
The couple wrote: “Tradition, in a different form. Four distinct creations. One very good excuse to celebrate Mid-Autumn differently this year!”
Also available on their website are ice cream in flavours such as Smoked Vanilla, Kaya Toast Set and Miso Pecan. Prices range from $21 to $23 for a pint.
Fellow celebrities including Chantalle Ng, Edwin Goh, Kimberly Chia, Zhang Zetong, Benjamin Tan and Xixi Lim, congratulated the pair,.
Tay Ying’s father, veteran actor Zheng Geping, and brother, Calvert Tay, also showed their support.
This is not Sihan’s first foray into gelato. He launched Arktos Gelato in 2024, with flavours such as mango oolong and house blend cold brew coffee.
