Stanley Tucci and wife Felicity Blunt hit it off right away when they first met — despite having a 21-year age gap.

“I wasn’t sure that I would ever remarry,” Tucci, 65, said in an October 2024 conversation with Jenna Bush Hager, which aired during the Thursday, May 7, episode of her “Open Book With Jenna” podcast.

The Devil Wears Prada star was married to first wife Kate Tucci from 1995 until her death at age 47 following a breast cancer battle in 2009. Before she died, the couple welcomed twins Isabel and Nicolo, 26, and daughter Camilla, 24.

In 2006, Stanley met his Devil Wears Prada costar Emily Blunt’s sister, Felicity, 45. The pair later reconnected in 2010 at Emily’s wedding to fellow actor John Krasinski. Stanley and Felicity tied the knot in 2012, going on to welcome son Matteo, 11, and daughter Emilia, 8.

“I never thought I would have children again,” Stanley said on Thursday’s podcast episode. “And when I met [Felicity], it just sort of made sense, even though there is this age gap of 21 years. And obviously, I knew her family … her sister was one of my best friends. And we just hit it off. We had a lot in common, even though we had nothing in common.”

Stanley added that Felicity “changed [his] life” by giving him and his children “a sense of security.”

“And she’s fun. Like she’s fun to hang out with,” he continued of his wife, who works as a literary agent. “And she’s incredibly positive, which I am not always. She’s absolutely, I mean, her mind is incredible. Her capacity to take in information, not just from a book, but from the world and process it, and turn it into something else is just extraordinary. She’s pretty cool.”

Stanley also opened up about his age gap with Felicity during a September 2025 interview with The Times of London.

“I am sad that I won’t see her get old and that I won’t be able to look after her if she needs looking after,” he said at the time while acknowledging that he wasn’t bothered by being older than his spouse. “I think there’s something really beautiful about people aging together. And unless there’s some miracle, that can’t happen.”

Elsewhere on Thursday’s podcast episode, Stanley admitted that he is “terrified” of death and aging after experiencing Kate’s death.

“When you lose somebody that you really love, and when I lost my wife, and you see that awful struggle, and you see the effect it has on your children, on family, on yourself, it never goes away. And it does steal you,” he explained. “It does give you strength. You have to allow it to give you strength. But I guess there’s always a fear of death, but maybe even more so, because you know what it’s like. You know what it can be like. And that’s kind of a scary thing.”
