A Singaporean actor is reportedly spotted at a Nanning Ponzi scheme event.

Shin Min Daily News reported on Sunday (Sept 6) that they had contacted several Singaporeans who had come into contact with the alleged pyramid scheme over the years.

The individuals then shared that during some of the events they were brought to during their time in Nanning, that they have seen several successful individuals who have high social standing, including a few celebrities.

A livestreamer, known as Zheng, travelled to the city for five days in 2025 with a friend and was brought to visit various development projects as well as attended dinners and business banquets.

The 38-year-old said it was during one of these events that she spotted the local actor.

Another woman, known as Chen, who travelled to China in 2019 as part of a Nanning business inspection tour, also shared that she had seen the same actor among other successful individuals who were introduced during a networking meal.

She said: “Although it was a long time ago, I still remember this because someone specifically introduced the man as a Singaporean actor.”

Chen added she was suspicious about the scheme at that point in time and eventually told the person she didn’t have any money with her. Her friend subsequently paid for the membership fee on her behalf.

She saw the actor again at a membership induction ceremony later and remembered he seemed to be one of the people in charge, although she wasn’t sure about his exact position.

This comes in the wake of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) revealing on Sept 4 that 52 Singaporeans have been arrested by the Chinese authorities in Guangxi province over their alleged involvement in pyramid scheme activities.

Shin Min said they had contacted the actor via social media, but that there was no response.

It was understood that on the actor’s social media profile, he introduced himself as a “Singapore retired entrepreneur” and frequently shared updates about his workout routines and tours to China.

In 2025, he posted about a trip to Nanning, China and wrote in the caption of the post that it is “just a second-tier city”.

AsiaOne has also reached out to the actor for more information.
