Sean Combs new allegations of sex trafficking

Less than a month before he is set to face trial, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs finds himself accused of yet more criminal activity of a sexual nature.

These new accusations, which include the very serious allegations of sex trafficking and prostitution, were publicly disclosed in a Manhattan court on Friday, March 4.  Reportedly, they involve yet another different victim and portray Combs as a sexual predator who is responsible for recruiting, transporting, and coercing the participation of the alleged victim into sex acts and prostitution.  These criminal acts are alleged to have taken place between 2021 and 2024.

When will Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs stand trial?

Combs, 55, is scheduled to stand trial on May 5 in Manhattan federal court, and recent legal developments now include an expanded federal indictment.  Delivered on Friday, this covers five criminal counts, which include racketeering and sex trafficking, along with this new charge of transportation to engage in prostitution.  While Combs has vehemently denied the previous charges against him, a new victim coming forward, bringing the total to three, will undoubtedly lead to further scrutiny of his professed innocence.

While his legal team maintain that all activity was predicated on mutual consent, the prosecutors are alleging that he took advantage of his impressive business empire to execute the sexual abuse of women from 2004 until 2024. At the centre of this case is what has been deemed as ‘freak offs’, which both parties agree involved recorded sexual performances.  However, Comb’s legal representatives have been very firm in saying that they were completely consensual and that nobody involved participated against their will.

While Combs was once celebrated as one of the most successful performers in the American rap scene, fame has not always shone a positive light on his behaviour.  For example, in 2016, he was caught on a surveillance camera acting in an aggressive manner towards a woman while attempting to leave a hotel in Los Angeles.

Not forgetting also, how last year, CNN aired a video that showed Combs hitting and dragging his former girlfriend, Casandra Ventura.   While Combs did issue an apology for his actions, it is unlikely to have helped how the public sees him.  In trying to minimise the potential damage of this video footage, one of his lawyers, Marc Agnifilo, has framed Combs’ and Ventura as having a ‘toxic, loving 11-year relationship’.

Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he has been since September 2024 while he awaits trial.
