New York Fashion Week is going to the dogs.
From the front row to the runway, a canine companion might be biggest It accessory of the season. Just ask Marigay McKee, whose Samoyed, Tilly, closed Tommy Hilfiger’s spring 2027 show.
“It was funny to see the attention a fluffy white dog got from the models backstage and from the press,” McKee told Page Six Style, recalling people initially mistook her four-legged friend for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s dog, Wendy, who appeared alongside the NFL pro in a recent Hilfiger campaign.
While Tilly isn’t actually a pop star’s pup, she certainly got the red carpet treatment. She chowed down on chicken nuggets for lunch — “Plaza-style,” of course — and got a lavender bath and facial before strutting her stuff.
“She’s always been a star,” McKee said.
As fashion week raged on, plenty of other stylish animals followed in Tilly’s paw-steps. We spotted dogs in prime seating everywhere from the Simkhai show to the Daily Front Row Awards — not to mention, at Rachel Antonoff and Susan Alexandra’s third-annual “Best in Show” presentation.
Antonoff and Alexandra’s high-fashion dog show spotlighted adoptable pooches from Animal Haven, walked by a cast of celebrities including Ricki Lake, Aly Raisman, Victoria Pedretti and more.
“I think we are probably, hopefully, the only NYFW show where half the models are peeing all over the place backstage,” Antonoff told us.
Both she and Alexandra are big-time pet lovers, with the latter calling dogs her “forever muses.” She painstakingly designed animal-friendly accessories for this year’s show, using at least 2,000 beads per leash.
“We look for the pieces that fit the dogs most comfortably,” she added. “Their comfort comes first. Another rule of thumb is that I’ve yet to meet a dog who enjoys wearing a tiny hat, which is a shame!”
Puppy love was also in the air at posh Chelsea doggy daycare Barkhouse, where co-owners Jeffrey Carlson and Gabriella Desposito-Carlson turned a 50-foot fake grass “fetch lane” into a runway for local pet owners and their precious pups.
Former Miss New York Briana Siaca closed out the show with her beloved dachshund, Stanley, telling us, “He is exactly who he thinks he is, and he was a complete natural on the runway.”
“No one struts New York City streets better than dogs — and their owners taking them for walks,” Desposito-Carlson added.
“It’s really interesting how dogs are becoming more of the moment this year,” the entrepreneur said. “They’re popping up in so many high-fashion places.”
After all, in a dog-eat-dog industry like fashion, an extra dose of joy is always welcome.
“I’ve never seen more wagging tails in a room,” Desposito-Carlson remarked. “I feel like they knew they were stars.”
