Patrick Tse’s final resting place has been revealed.
TVB ENews reported yesterday (Aug 10) that the ashes of the veteran Hong Kong actor-filmmaker, who died aged 89 on July 16, are interred at Po Fook Hill, a columbarium in Hong Kong.
The location is also the final resting place for many Hong Kong celebrities including Leslie Cheung, Lydia Shum and Roman Tam.
Patrick’s memorial tablet is engraved with his real name Tse Ka Yuk, his birth and death years, as well as his ancestral home in Guangdong, China.
In his portrait, he wore a black and white suit with his signature sunglasses and had a bright smile on his face.
On July 20, Patrick’s children Jennifer and Nicholas announced his death in respective social media posts.
Jennifer, 43, said he had died peacefully in the hospital surrounded by the love of his family, after a period of declining health. She also requested for privacy during this difficult period as they mourn him.
Nicholas wrote that his father devoted his life to showbiz in hopes of bringing joy to the audience. Despite having his down moments, he insisted on appearing at his best on the screen. The 45-year-old singer-actor also encouraged fans to not cry or be too sad when they think about his father,
Hong Kong media reported on July 21 that Patrick was cremated on July 20 at Wo Hop Shek Crematorium in Hong Kong, after a simple ceremony held at the hospital.
Many celebrities including Cecilia Cheung, Jackie Chan, Stephen Chow, Charmaine Sheh and Charlene Choi paid tribute to him in their social media posts.
Jennifer also made a social media post yesterday about Patrick, who would have celebrated his 90th birthday.
Writing that their family missed him, the model-actress added: “Saying goodbye to you was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life. But I hope you’re happy and free now.
“And I’m sure wherever you are, it’s so bright and beautiful that wearing sunglasses all the time is totally normal.”
She also thanked him for being her father and ended her post with: “Rest peacefully, Daddy. I love you. Always.”
