Patrick Mahomes publicly addressed the injury he suffered during the Chiefs’ clash against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Patrick, 30, took to X after the game on Sunday, December 14, to reflect on the gruesome leg injury that left him limping off the field late in the Chargers’ face-off against Kansas City. The Chargers beat the Chiefs 16-13, resulting in the Chiefs’ elimination from the NFL playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons.

“Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie it’s [sic] hurts. But all we can do now is Trust in God and attack every single day over and over again,” the quarterback shared. “Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers.”

Patrick concluded the post with a message of hope for fans. “I will be back stronger than ever,” he wrote.

In the final two minutes of Sunday’s game, Patrick was tackled along the sideline, resulting in the athlete grabbing at his left knee in pain. The incident attracted multiple trainers who attended to Patrick on the field before he was taken to a medical tent on the sideline.

According to a report by ESPN on Sunday evening, Patrick “suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his left knee.” The outlet noted that he “underwent an MRI after the game that confirmed the injury.”

Patrick, who has suffered an ongoing knee issue for the past several weeks, did not return to the game, finishing with 189 yards passing, one interception and one run for a touchdown.

If Patrick does miss any remaining games due to the injury, Gardner Minshew, who came in to replace Patrick on Sunday, will likely serve as his substitute.

The Chiefs’ loss means that the team, who have won three Super Bowls in the last five NFL seasons, are now officially eliminated from the playoffs. Two of those Super Bowl wins landed back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.

Patrick was supported by wife Brittany Mahomes on Sunday, with the stylish WAG donning yet another fashion-forward ensemble for the occasion. Stepping out in a white, fleece-lined jacket, Brittany, 30, kissed her husband on the field before kickoff.

Brittany completed her look with aviator sunglasses, fleece Chanel earmuffs and red leather gloves as she nodded to signature Chiefs colors.

Elsewhere at Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, was in attendance alongside future sister-in-law Kylie Kelce. Social media footage captured the musician rocking a beige-and-red multicolored coat with her signature red lip and hair down in loose waves.
