Shaktimaan is one of the most loved Indian superheroes. Every 90s kid has grown up watching the TV show. Mukesh Khanna made everyone fall in love with the character, the way he fought bad guys, saved lives, and gave life lessons. But for quite some time, there have been talks about turning it into a movie. We already know Ranveer Singh wants to play the superhero and even requested Khanna to give the rights. But there was someone else who wanted to remake the superhero saga.
Mukesh Khanna’s Shaktimaan rights
Recently, Mukesh Khanna revealed that before Ranveer Singh, he was approached by Yash Raj Films for a Shaktimaan movie. While talking to Siddharth Kannan, Aditya said that Aditya’s team asked him if he could give them the rights to Shakimaan. Khanna also recalled how, at that time, there were images of Ranveer Singh edited in the superhero’s costume.
Further in this entertainment news, the Mahabharat actor revealed what he responded to the YRF team. “I told them, ‘Tell Aditya, whoever he is, if you want to make it, make it with me’. I didn’t want to give away the rights only for them to make a disco drama. I refused.” Meanwhile, a Shaktimaan movie with Ranveer Singh was announced two years ago by Sony Pictures Films India. However, the project never progressed due to a rights issue. When the announcement happened, Mukesh slammed the team, saying he was not pleased with the casting. So far, there is no confirmation if the movie would happen.
Coming to YRF, the production house has been growing big with their spy franchise, which includes Salman Khan’s Tiger, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir from War. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s ALPHA will also be a part of the same universe. On the other hand, Ranveer is busy with Aditya Dhar’s next spy thriller.
