Meghan Markle was “snubbed” by David Foster in a viral red carpet moment.
Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, attended the 40th anniversary gala for the David Foster Foundation in Victoria, Canada, on Friday.
In footage circulating on social media, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex both greeted the Grammy winner on the carpet and Markle even reached out her arm to him — but Foster walked straight past her.
However, Foster did appear to acknowledge Harry, giving him a smile.
Foster’s wife, Katherine McPhee, followed soon after her husband and proceeded to stand next to Markle. The two couples then posed for a photo, with the two men standing on the outside.
As the foursome smiled for the cameras, Harry and Foster shared a short exchange and a laugh, but Foster appeared to direct his words toward Harry alone.
“TENSIONS on the red carpet! Meghan Markle publicly snubbed by host David Foster. Watch as he refuses to greet her and ignores her reaching hand. Ouch,” the user who originally shared the clip wrote in the caption.
Social media users in the comments section agreed that Foster’s move looked intentional.
“He totally ghosted her but did acknowledge Harry,” one wrote. “This was soooo obvious,” another added.
However, others argued that it was an innocent exchange.
“What’s wrong about this, she’s so kind giving a space for picture taking, where’s the snub?????” one questioned.
A second wrote, “He walked by her as she was guiding him politely to take a photo. lol wtf is wrong with you people?”
Page Six has reached out to reps for Foster and Markle for comment.
Harry and Markle have been friends with Foster and McPhee for years.
Harry, 41, and Foster, 76, are known to have a close “father and son” bond — especially since Harry has been estranged from his own family.
Back in 2020, McPhee gushed over her husband’s “beautiful” friendship with the “Spare” author.
“My husband has a really, really beautiful relationship with Harry,” McPhee told Access Hollywood at the time. “They’re so cute, they’re like father and son. We just stay in touch with them.”
That same year, it was reported that the legendary songwriter helped set up Harry and Meghan’s access to a multimillion-dollar Canadian compound after the couple relinquished their titles as senior members of the royal family.
“David’s the resource guy, he knows all the places. He loves to help people so we just hope they end up somewhere where they feel like they can really just settle down,” McPhee said of the arrangement.
Additionally, Markle and the “American Idol” alum have known each other since childhood.
“She went to a school called Immaculate Heart, as did I,” McPhee said of Markle during the 2020 interview.
“She went there for middle school and high school, and I went there just for middle school. My sister was in her class, my sister was in middle school with her, and I was in middle school when she was in high school, so I did a couple shows with her.”
