A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burgling Kim Kardashian’s home.

Deputies from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station were called to the reality TV star’s mansion in Hidden Hills, California on Sunday (Aug 9) after security guards reportedly saw a man loading items into a white Lexus car outside.

Officers arrested a man named as Trey Mendel on suspicion of burglary and theft of a car.

A statement from the Sheriff’s Station, obtained by Fox News, explained: “Upon arrival, deputies located a white male adult – Trey Mendel – and placed him under arrest for burglary and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent,

“The suspect was transported and booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station on the aforementioned charges. The suspect remains in custody.

“The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.”

Kim and her children were not at home at the time of the incident. They are believed to be living elsewhere while renovations are carried out at the house.

The Los Angeles Times reports the car which was allegedly stolen belongs to one of Kim’s employees.

Kim purchased a US$20 million (S$25 million) home in Hidden Hills with her now ex-husband Kanye West back in 2014.

She continued to live in the property with the former couple’s three children after their split in 2021 and she expanded her compound by purchasing a neighbouring property on the estate last year.

The incident comes a decade after Kim was targeted in an armed robbery in Paris, France.

The reality star was tied up and held at gunpoint while a group ransacked her rented apartment and stole millions of dollars of jewellery from her.

Last year, Kim returned to the French capital to give evidence against the men accused of robbing her.

Eight of the 10 defendants were convicted of crimes relating to the incident, while another was convicted on illegal weapons charges and another was acquitted.

The Kardashians said in a statement at the time: “I am deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case. The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family.

“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice, and promoting a fair legal system.”
