Nearly a year before welcoming her first child, Lady Gaga said giving her future kids a “safe and happy childhood” would become her “No. 1 priority” — even above her music and acting career.
During a July 2025 appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” the longtime shock jock predicted that Gaga would go “all-in” on family time once she became a mom.
“You’re actually right on the money with that,” the singer, 40, agreed.
“I just really want them to have a very safe and happy childhood, so you’re not wrong that that will become my No. 1 priority,” she said.
However, fans should not expect a total vanishing act from “The Fame” singer.
When Stern asked whether she planned to step back from the spotlight after having a baby, Gaga wasn’t ready to make any promises.
“Disappear? I don’t think so,” she said, before acknowledging that she’d have to see what her life looked like once she became a mother.
“I also have to see what it’s like and what our kid needs, you know?” she told Stern last year.
Page Six exclusively broke the news last week that the singer, 40, had quietly welcomed a child with her fiancé, Michael Polansky, 42.
The three made their public debut as a family last week, after being spotted in northern California, where Polansky is from.
The pair were first linked in 2020 after they were photographed kissing at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas. Gaga confirmed their engagement in July 2024 while speaking with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at the Paris Olympics.
The singer spoke about her hope to welcome children multiple times over the last few years.
In March 2025, Gaga told the New York Times that that she’s “excited to be a mom,” but also that she “used to have a lot of apprehension about it.”
In November 2025, she divulged to Rolling Stone, “Being a mom is the thing I want the most.” In that same interview, she also said Polansky was “gonna be a beautiful father” and that they both were “really excited” about starting a family together.
Now that the couple has welcomed their first child, they’ve reportedly taken time off work to spend the summer with their baby, giving Gaga the chance to put her longtime priorities into practice.
