Kumail Nanjiani is set to host the 78th annual DGA Awards, the Directors Guild of America announced on Monday.
The annual awards ceremony is taking place this year on Feb. 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Nanjiani is an Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated writer, actor and comedian, best known for projects like The Big Sick, Silicon Valley, Eternals and Only Murders in the Building. He recently released a new special titled Kumail Nanjiani: Night Thoughts.
“I am honored to host the DGA Awards and celebrate the incredible work done across the art form,” says Nanjiani. “A director’s dedication, leadership and creativity are what bring the most powerful stories — the ones that truly need to be told — to life.”
Judd Apatow has hosted the DGA Awards in previous years, including 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2020 and 2018.
Beth McCarthy-Miller will return as chair of the awards ceremony for the fifth consecutive year. She says: “I am proud to continue serving as DGA Awards Chair and to help celebrate the extraordinary projects of this year’s nominees, I look forward to a memorable night honoring the craft of directing and to welcoming Kumail Nanjiani to the DGA Awards stage.”
