She knows how to keep it short and sweet.
Kristen Stewart stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere of “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma” Wednesday in denim cutoffs so tiny, she looked pantsless beneath her blazer.
The leggy look is one of the 36-year-old’s most reliable red carpet moves.
Her most talked-about turn came at the 2022 Oscars, where she swapped the customary gown for a cropped Chanel shorts suit and a chiffon blouse unbuttoned to the navel.
The rule-breaking ensemble ruffled awards-season purists and put her in the company of Winona Ryder, Pharrell and Demi Moore — the only other actors to wear shorts to the Academy Awards before her.
She rounded out Wednesday’s premiere fit with her go-to black Ruby Brown 3306 Dames high-top sneakers, white crew socks and dark sunglasses, adding a neon orange beanie at the El Coyote after-party.
She’s in step with the season: teeny-tiny shorts have taken over Hollywood this summer, from Charli XCX to Jennifer Lopez.
Her affinity for the style dates back well over a decade, however: Stewart wore tailored short shorts to the 2013 Kids’ Choice Awards, then slipped into black silk cutoffs and leather fingerless gloves for that summer’s Chanel couture show in Paris.
She’s even brought the look to the hallowed carpets of Cannes, needling the festival’s dress code in shorts and sneakers and most recently layering a sheer maxi skirt over shorts to sidestep its ban on bare skin.
She promoted “Spencer” at the 2021 Venice Film Festival wearing an ultra-short tweed romper, and is often photographed in versions of the look at fashion parties and front rows.
Off the carpet, she’s gone even barer, working the “Love Lies Bleeding” press tour clad in cashmere knit briefs and sporty micro shorts.
Although Stewart doesn’t appear in “Camp Miasma,” she has been in the film’s corner since June’s Nouvelles Vagues International Biarritz Film Festival. There, as jury president, she awarded Jane Schoenbrun’s slasher a special prize.
“This film is a glory hole. It’s a geyser,” she said at the ceremony. “I have no fear that it’s going to soak the world when it hits theaters. The best time I’ve ever had in a movie theater. Ever.”
