Kim Zolciak’s 15-year-old son, KJ Biermann, will likely be subject to strict stipulations if he gets out of jail after being indicted in his sexual assault and sodomy case.
KJ’s new normal will be “close, close monitoring” if granted bond, sexual assault case expert and former prosecutor Lindsay Richards, who is not involved in the teen’s case, told Page Six.
“I think there’s a likelihood he’ll be released and he will have a lot of conditions of his release,” she said. “I think he’ll be on a GPS. He’ll probably be on house arrest, having to do school at home.”
Richards said it’s possible KJ could be required to enroll in educational courses and therapy sessions before the case goes to trial.
KJ was formally indicted on charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, false imprisonment and three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child under 16 stemming from an alleged incident in Alpharetta, Georgia, earlier this year.
Richards noted the charges are “unbelievably serious” and could result in decades of prison time if KJ is convicted — and the fact that he remains behind bars could suggest there is “a strong case against him.”
“Not releasing him into the custody of his parents with electronic monitoring of some kind, that surprises me for this young of a kid,” she said.
Richards said her money is on prosecutors attempting to have KJ tried as an adult.
KJ was arrested on Aug. 17 after a female classmate claimed he sexually assaulted her in a co-ed sauna at the Life Time fitness center on April 23.
He’s accused of forcing the classmate to engage in numerous sexual acts without her consent, but his attorney, Jason Sheffield, told Page Six his client is “100% innocent” and claimed to have evidence to prove it.
Zolciak, 48, who shares four children with former NFL player Kroy Biermann, 40, also passionately defended her son.
“The allegations being made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling,” the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum — who also has two children from previous relationships — said via her rep on Aug. 21.
“He categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged,” she added.
KJ’s legal team has since pleaded for his release from Atlanta’s Metro Regional Youth Detention Center, where he is currently being held, citing his football and academic accomplishments, as well as his strong ties to the community and his family.
Sheffield also said KJ voluntarily took a polygraph test, with results showing “no deception when answering the two relevant questions concerning the alleged conduct.”
KJ is due in court on Sept. 8.
