Kelly Clarkson teared up while reflecting on the end of her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, later this year. 

She was brought to tears when Rita Wilson gushed about Clarkson, 44, and the impact of her eponymous daytime talk show while making a guest appearance on Wednesday’s episode. 

‘I just want to say one thing before we go,’ Wilson, 69, began as she addressed Clarkson in an emotional and heartwarming moment. 

‘I want to thank you for the years that you’ve been doing your show. I want to thank you for literally changing the game when it came to daytime television.’ 

She will have hosted The Kelly Clarkson Show for seven seasons before concluding her daytime television run later this year. 

In the weeks following Clarkson’s announcement, fellow vocal powerhouse Pink was speculated to be taking over the slot but ended up debunking the rumors.

On Wednesday’s episode, she was seen getting teary-eyed while discussing with guest Rita Wilson about the forthcoming conclusion of The Kelly Clarkson Show later this year

Wilson, a loyal viewer of Clarkson’s talk show, praised the singer, her musical legacy and also lauded her band.

‘The fact that you love music, that you have brought so much music to daytime [television], that you have shared with us your voice, your gifts and everyone else’s and your incredible band,’ Wilson continued. 

Clarkson’s eyes welled up with tears at one point, and then she embraced the actress-singer while thanking her for her kind words.

Clarkson previously made her daytime talk show debut in 2019. 

In February, the American Idol season one winner announced that The Kelly Clarkson Show will conclude later this year. 

In addition to wrapping up the final season of her talk show, she will also be doing a Las Vegas residency in July and continue coaching on The Voice. 

Earlier this year, the Stronger singer shared a statement via Instagram explaining that she would be stepping away from the daily hosting gig after wrapping up season 7 in order to prioritize her children.

She made the personal decision to end the show in the wake of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s death in August 2025. 

Clarkson was previously married to the talent manager for seven years before she filed for divorce in 2020. 

They had two children together, daughter River Rose, 12, and son Remy Alexander, 10. 

He also shared two adult children, daughter Savannah and son Seth, with his first wife Melissa Ashworth. 

Blackstock died at the age of 48 after a three-year battle with cancer.

‘This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson show,’ she wrote in her statement at the beginning of February.

‘Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,’ she continued.

‘This isn’t goodbye,’ she assured her fans. 

‘I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time… you never know where I might show up next.’
