Kay’s covered absolutely everything you can think of. Royal weddings, general elections, all the big breaking news stories. She even joked about how politicians will be relieved she’s finally retiring! She’s clocked up over a million minutes of live TV – that’s more than anyone else in the world! No wonder she’s ready for a break. She said she’s looking forward to doing some travelling, which sounds lovely.
Broadcasting legend: Kay Burley’s remarkable career
Kay started out in journalism when she was just 17, working for a local paper. She worked her way up through local radio and TV before joining Sky News in the ’80s. Her coverage of 9/11 was incredible and won Sky a BAFTA. She’s a proper legend in the business. David Rhodes, who runs Sky News, said her legacy is “unmatched” and that she’s made a huge contribution to journalism.
