While being married for almost 17 years now, the Abhishek and Aishwarya duo have largely maintained a good relationship in the eyes of their fans.

However, since the past 2 years Abhishek and Aishwarya’s relationship has seen some strained times especially with her mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan. However there have also been times when Jaya Bachchan has spoken warmly about her daughter in law in the media.

Known for her straightforward and cut-to-the chase attitude, Jaya Bachchan is often the talk of the town because of her statement. Once on the popular show Koffe with Karan, the veteran actress admitted that Aishwarya filled a void left by Shweta after she got married and went to her in-laws.

“She is lovely; I love her. She is such a big star herself, and she has fitted in so well. She is a strong lady and has a lot of dignity” she said on the show. Admiring how she interacts with everyone at home as well, she said “When we’re all together, I’ve never seen her push herself forward. I like that quality, she stands behind me quietly, listens, and takes it all in”

Jaya also lauded how Aishwarya interacts with the eldest person, i.e, her father-in-law in the house, she said “every time Aishwarya walks in from the door, Amitabh’s eyes light up with joy and happiness, and it feels like Shweta is at home.”

Tensions between Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s relationship began brewing last year when speculation of divorce began brewing in their relationship. Many have speculated Abhishke Bachchan’s extra-marital affair with actress Nimrat Kaur has strained the relationship even more.
