Gwyneth Paltrow raised eyebrows last week after revealing that her husband Brad Falchuk thought that she was a Republican.

Although Paltrow clarified that she wasn’t a Republican, she also made it clear that she isn’t a Democrat, and instead stated that she is ‘completely an independent.’

The admission that she’s closer to the center than to the left outraged fans of the 53-year-old Goop founder.

On X, angry fans flocked to bash the actress for her political stance, as well as her statement that she ‘[doesn’t] feel anything,’ which many misinterpreted as a cold lack of concern or empathy for others.

‘”Doesn’t feel anything right now” lmfaoo this rich conservative,’ wrote one user who didn’t buy Paltrow’s denial about being a Republican.

‘She’s an extremely privileged white woman who’s a nepo baby, like… Of course she doesn’t give a f*** about what’s going on in the world – because it doesn’t affect her,’ seethed one commenter. ‘This woman has NEVA been in touch with reality.’

Paltrow, 53, revealed that her husband Brad Falchuk thought that she was a Republican as the star addressed her own political standing

‘”I don’t feel anything right now” the world in shambles & you say this,’ added another person who misinterpreted Paltrow’s statement, which referred to her party affiliation, not her concern for the rest of the world. ‘you’re something & it’s not good.’

One user blasted Paltrow’s ‘”independent” phase’ as ‘peak Hollywood pretend.’

Many fans also specifically highlighted Israel’s bombing and slaughter of Palestinian civilians in Gaza as an example of crises that Paltrow allegedly was unconcerned with.

Others claimed, without evidence, that Paltrow only identified as an independent to disguise alleged right-wing political beliefs.

‘People say they’re “independent” when they are afraid to admit the truth,’ claimed one such person.

‘Anyone that thinks they are a centrist independent is actually Republican that just doesn’t care enough about what happens to other people,’ opined another account.

‘She’s a republican who is too embarrassed to admit it,’ alleged one fan.

Another claimed in disgust that Paltrow was ‘MAGA,’ adding, ‘I knew it…’

Several fans blasted Paltrow on X, with many focusing on her statement that she ‘[doesn’t] feel anything,’ which many misinterpreted as a cold lack of concern or empathy for others, rather than her stating that she doesn’t feel as if either major political party represents her views

One fan even joked that Paltrow didn’t realize how telling it was that the closest person to her believed she was a Republican.

‘If you’re an “independent” but others think you’re a republican, especially your significant other, i have bad news for you

And some on the right also believed that Paltrow was trying to hide her true political affiliations, such as Meghan McCain.

‘She has ALWAYS given me MAHA mom vibes!!’ McCain wrote. ‘Come on in, the waters fine Gwyneth…👀.’

‘She ate! Everyone should be a republican,’ added one user who believed Paltrow held secret conservative beliefs.

Other right-wing commenters lashed out at those criticizing Paltrow for her supposed conservative beliefs.

‘If anyone even slightly deviates from leftism they are accused of being a Republican,’ claimed one offended poster. ‘This is bullying low IQ behavior. A real turn off. In those moments, it’s really clear how leftists are an actual cult.’

Paltrow, who recently offered a hilarious response to fans roasting her ‘disgusting’ dairy substitute, got candid about the subject of her political beliefs on Tuesday’s episode of The Goop podcast.

The Marty Supreme actress was joined by guest Trae Stephens and at one point, she said that the atmosphere in the U.S. is ‘super charged.’

‘Without that sort of open respectful dialogue, I’m not sure we can fix any of these problems that we’re seeing in the country,’ Stephens responded.

Paltrow offered her agreement while saying she ‘noticed with my own husband too, who’s the best person ever in the world.

‘And he’s so progressive. Like he has such a sweet heart and he wants to, like, make sure everybody’s looked after. And I think in this climate, sometimes I’m like, “Can you just listen to this?”‘

The mom-of-two further expressed that it has also ‘become so binary.’

‘And I am trying to, in my journey through being an American right now, trying to, I don’t know, I guess sort of weave together lots of different points of view, and also to get out of that place of, like, righteousness and anger and fear.’

Paltrow shared she is ‘pretty centrist’ when it comes to her political leanings before adding her husband believed she was a Republican.

The Hollywood actress then clarified to her guest and podcast listeners that she is not.

‘And he’s so progressive. Like he has such a sweetheart and he wants to, like, make sure everybody’s looked after,’ Paltrow said of her husband. ‘And I think in this climate, sometimes I’m like, “Can you just listen to this?”‘

‘I don’t feel anything right now to be totally honest with you. I feel like I’m completely an independent.’

Paltrow also recalled attending a recent concert in Nashville with Falchuk and noted that ‘this amazing girl’ was performing who had ‘different points of view than my husband.’

The star continued, ‘And I just thought, no, but this is so beautiful to see somebody who clearly is such a good person coming from such a different place.’

Paltrow has previously referred to herself as an ‘independent thinker’ when it comes to politics, per Vanity Fair.

During an interview with the outlet last year, she briefly talked about the Make America Healthy Again movement which is fronted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Paltrow explained that she chooses to educate herself when it comes to the health system in the U.S. rather than leaning towards a specific leader.

‘Look, we’re all incredibly flawed,’ the actress told Vanity Fair.

‘I think the leaders’ piece is what makes people think, I’m going to take this research into my own hands and I’m going to try to make the best choices that I can for me and my family.’

‘I don’t feel anything right now to be totally honest with you. I feel like I’m completely an independent,’ the actress shared

She added, ‘A lot of those leaders are, well, they’re all humans, so they’re all imperfect.

‘And sometimes they’re way past imperfect and it’s actually really dissonant with how other people hold information or how they feel politicians are supposed to behave.

‘I’ve felt like I’m gripping the sides of my chair,’ Paltrow also shared. ‘What is the way through all of this and what is actually meant to be incendiary and what is actually meant to be policy?’

Late last year in December, the actress said her husband is the ‘most feminist’ man she knows while attending The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment gala.

The star made the comment while accepting the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award during the event.

‘Before I go, I just want to say a good thank you to my manager, my husband, Brad Falchuk, who’s the most feminist man I know, the most loving, who lets me be with myself every day,’ she said, per People.

Falchuk had also made an appearance at the festivities to support his wife, whom he tied the knot with in 2018.

He is known for co-creating a number of shows with Ryan Murphy such as Glee, Scream Queens and American Horror Story.
