The ongoing furore surrounding Apple Martin’s high-profile modelling jobs appeared to be dead in the water as she unveiled her latest on Thursday.

Indeed, the privileged daughter of Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin takes centre stage in her latest campaign with London based fashion house Self-Portrait.

With upstate New York providing a rural backdrop, Martin, 21, models soft laces and airy chiffons from the brand’s latest collection while striking a series of poses for photographer Ryan McGinley.

Designed to capture ‘raw, youthful freedom in natural settings,’ the young model’s second campaign for self-portrait finds her partially submerged in water, the expansive New York landscape visible to her rear.

The portraits reunite Apple with McGinley and stylist Mel Ottenberg, both of whom worked with the model on her debut campaign in September.

Han Chong, Founder and Creative Director of self-portrait, said: ‘While our first chapter introduced Apple officially to the creative industry, this new series of portraits show a more reflective evolution of her personality; there’s a maturity and steadiness to the imagery which aligns with where she is heading.

‘Watching her grow from the sidelines has been one of the most rewarding parts of this partnership; she is a joy to work with, a lot of fun to be around, and a new effortless style icon in the making.’

Martin previously joined McGinley and Ottenberg for her debut shoot in October, shortly after joining her mother for a separate fashion campaign with GapStudio -despite facing backlash for using her privileged background and industry connections to her advantage.

The model, who is also studying at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, posed for her first collection after being unveiled as an ambassador for the brand.

She said: ‘Debuting with self-portrait was a no-brainer – their British spirit reminds me of growing up in London, so it’s felt like home from the start.

‘Plus, the collections are gorge and approachable! Han and the team welcomed me in as part of the creative process and I am having a lot of fun learning along the way.

‘I’m so excited for this campaign to be out in the world and for us to continue exploring this side of my creativity together.’

Chong added: ‘We wanted this latest chapter in our Portraits series to continue our exploration of effortless self-expression – something that defines who we are as a brand.

‘Apple captures the spirit of a generation of women stepping into the world independently. Working with her has been incredibly inspiring – she represents a new generation marked by self-confidence, curiosity and freedom of expression.

‘Approachable, self-aware, professional and wickedly funny, we are so proud to welcome her into the family.’

Martin first made her foray into the fashion world back in 2023 when she debuted on the runway for Chanel’s haute couture show at Paris Fashion Week.

News of her collaboration with Self-Portrait led to inevitable complaints that she landed the job thanks to her high-profile connections.

‘THIS is nepotism gone bad,’ wrote one disgruntled social media follower

A second added: ‘Oh thank goodness, I was so worried another one of Hollywood’s finest children might not land a super cushy job with no talent to validate the achievement. All is well in the world now.’

While a third wrote: ‘how is this chick the face of anything? Must be nice to be a nepo baby with no talent.’

However, some loved the collaboration, with one posting: ‘This is excellent.’

Established in 2013 by Han Chong, self-portrait ‘has become synonymous with empowering its customers through functional dressing for day and night, inspiring women with a global mindset and effortless spirit.’

Martin joins the self-portrait family which includes Emily Ratajkowski, Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid, Kate Moss, Jisoo and Phoebe Dynenvor.
