Gladiators star Giant has confirmed his split from his OnlyFans model girlfriend after their relationship cost him his job on the BBC family show.

The break-up was first revealed by The Daily Mail last week and Giant has now said he wants to ‘set the record straight’ following the report.

The TV personality, 40, whose real name is Jamie Bigg, said he blamed the split on being ‘confused about who he is’ after turning 40 and a stressful year.

Sharing a video to his Instagram page, he said: ‘I’m sick of the speculation, I want to set the record straight right now. I want to come clean, I think we’re probably all guilty of having an ego, I’ve had a big ego in all of this. Realising that is what’s important.

‘I’ve upset a lot of people on the way and what I want to say is turning 40 and getting older it’s not easy. I was already unsure of who I was, because I spent my life as a body builder playing The Giant and then I went on a massive TV show and played Giant. And Jamie got lost along the way.

‘Why I’m here today speaking to you is, because I’m not happy with speculation and opinion of me or situations I’ve been in I want to really start molding the person I want to be for the rest of my life.

‘Nobody can take away that feeling of getting older. And I got so overwhelmed turning 40, getting my ADHD diagnosis. Walked away from my wife, walked away from my family, my dogs, walked away from my job. I came off testosterone from January until May.

‘Now, battling with all those things and then coming off that and trashing my own hormones was not going to end well, let me tell you that.’

Clarifying his relationship status, he said: ‘I’m not in a relationship anymore, I’m working on myself. The most important person right now to serve the people that I love is working on me. What’s inside here [head], and inside here [heart]. Working out who it is I want to be, which direction I want to go in, the ego’s been put in a box. I want to move forward and for people to know me, for me.

‘People have been asking me what’s next? I don’t know what’s next, but I do know I want to be a better person. And I want to be very clear about my path forwards. Whether that’s speaking on ADHD, mental health, training or my own journey through all the madness, and how I’ve stayed mentally strong when really I’ve been stressed and I’ve not been okay.

Revealing that there are several people he plans to say sorry to, he said: ‘I’ve got a lot of people to apologise to. I’ve got a lot of things to be accountable for.’

Alongside the video was a further explanation, as he wrote the caption: ‘Life update…. No speculation – the honest truth. The last year has been the most stressful of my life so far.

‘I’ve been so overwhelmed and confused with who I am and who I want to be. That’s led me to some places that I’m not proud of. I’ve upset people, burnt bridges and ruined relationships that I regret.

‘I don’t know what is next but I do know that I’m on a journey to finding me. Who I want to be and what I want to achieve for the rest of my time here.

‘I know one thing and that’s that this self discovery thing and being able to look inwards and understand what makes you tick is really interesting.

‘Here’s to being my authentic self. The good, the bad and the ugly but moving forwards with the intention of being the best all round version of myself ever.’

It was reported last week that Giant had split from OnlyFans model Taylor, 28, two months after the relationship cost him his job.

The fan-favourite Gladiator claimed he was sacked from the BBC show because the broadcaster disapproved of his relationship.

The pair – who remain friends – split and Giant travelled to Spain for a period of reflection.

A source revealed to the Daily Mail: ‘They haven’t ruled out getting back together in the future but Jamie knows he needs to work on himself right now.’

Jamie hinted at the split in a reflective Instagram post on Tuesday, telling fans: ‘Lately, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting. Not on what I’ve achieved, but on who I want to become.

‘Right now, I’m doing what I find the hardest… I’m taking the time I need to work on myself.

‘I’m spending time in my own busy brain trying to unpack and make sense of all the thoughts. I’m rebuilding routines, strengthening my mindset, improving my health, and gaining clarity on the man I want to be.

‘One thing I know for certain is that I have a genuine passion for helping others. And if being honest, raw, real and transparent about my own journey helps even one person find their direction, purpose, or confidence again, then it’s worth sharing.

‘Growth isn’t always pretty. Self-reflection isn’t always comfortable. But both are necessary if you truly want to become the best version of yourself. The work continues.’

Jamie and Taylor began dating late last year after meeting at a Gladiators Live event in Liverpool and just weeks after the TV star had split from his wife.

Jamie later claimed he was axed from Gladiators by the BBC and production company Hungry Bear after disclosing his relationship with Taylor.

He said he had told bosses he was planning to confirm his relationship with the adult content creator publicly – but was cut from the upcoming fourth series shortly after.

In a statement released in April, Jamie said: ‘I made it clear that I was planning to go public with my relationship, including the fact my partner works as an OnlyFans creator, and shortly after that I was told I wouldn’t be continuing on Gladiators.

‘It wasn’t something I expected, especially given the commitment I’ve shown to the role.

He claimed he was sacked from the BBC show because the broadcaster disapproved of his relationship with OnlyFans model Taylor

‘I’ve always taken being in the public eye seriously, and I believe being a role model is about honesty as well as professionalism.

‘For me, that means not hiding parts of who I am or the people I care about.

‘My partner is an incredible person, and I have huge respect for everything she does – I’m proud to stand by her.

The couple were said to be devastated, with the decision having come at a ‘particularly difficult’ time due to them discussing starting a family.

Jamie also claimed that in later discussions about him being axed from the show, bosses cited ‘child safeguarding’ as the reason behind the decision.

He said viewers had been left ‘disgusted’ by his axe and also accused the broadcaster of lying about his exit.

Jamie hit out at Gladiators producer and Hungry Bear boss Dan Baldwin, who is married to Holly Willoughby, claiming he branded Taylor’s racy career a ‘child safeguarding risk’.

But the ex bodybuilder has insisted parents with young children who are fans of the show have thrown their support behind him.

‘I’ve had a lot of messages from parents saying their children are so upset that I’m leaving the show, I feel as though the response from the parents has made it really clear that it was never going to be an issue’.

He went on: ‘There’s nothing in our contracts about who you’re allowed to be with, who you’re allowed to love or what relationships you’re allowed to have away from the show’.

Discussing fans’ reactions to his sacking, he told The Sun: ‘I would use the word disgust as well because a lot of people said how unfair it is. They loved Giant and they obviously love the show’.

Katie said she was left ‘hurt and shocked’ after he moved on with Taylor months after their split.

Prior to being a Gladiator, Jamie was the tallest professional bodybuilder in the world at 6ft 5in and consumed up to 10,000 calories a day.

He previously shared how his busy lifestyle bodybuilding and spending time filming Gladiators had put pressure on his marriage.

Speaking on the To The Heart Of It podcast, he said: ‘Bodybuilding is tough on relationships. It’s tough on the kids.

‘There were always ups and downs because of bodybuilding, because of how much it took away from you and the relationship.

‘So I always said to my partner and kids, ‘I’ll probably live my life backwards, concentrate on me in the first part and then once I leave bodybuilding, it’s all about you’.

‘Like that’s when I’m going to give back, because I need to get myself here before I can give you what you need physically, financially, emotionally, everything.

‘In any case, that was part of my decision for becoming a Gladiator, because I was like, ‘OK, this opportunity is going to give me the chance to be a better husband, better father’.’
