Kate Mansi is leaving General Hospital after a popular and critically acclaimed three-year run.

The 38-year-old actress, who joined the ABC soap in 2023, opted to not renew her contract for professional and personal reasons.

‘I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital,’ Mansi told SoapSteph’s Daytime Dish.

‘I have a few new projects that require my full attention and with my husband currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.’

Mansi exchanged vows with producer Matt McInnis in May 2025 in a garden setting at a Los Angeles restaurant, surprising the 115 guests who initially were led to believe they were attending an engagement party.

The brunette beauty had originally worn a two-piece Cult Gaia outfit but swiftly changed into a custom-made strapless gown by Newhite for the ceremony.

It was her second marriage, having previously been wed to television and film producer Blake Levin for about a year before their 2023 divorce.

Mansi had described their relationship with McInnis as an ‘international 24/7 operation’ with her work on General Hospital keeping her in Los Angeles and McInnis’ work as producer taking him to Africa and London.

Clearly, she wants to spend more time with her significant other.

Mansi also praised Frank Valentini, the show’s executive producer, for giving her the opportunity to play such a groundbreaking character as Kristina Corinthos-Davis.

It was a character that allowed Mansi to focus attention on the LGBTQ+ community and also highlight the reality of living with endometriosis.

‘I’m incredibly grateful to Frank, ABC, and our writers for the care they gave Kristina,’ she said. ‘It’s been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. I’ve loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family.’

Mansi continued: ‘When Frank first approached me about the role, two things deeply resonated with me: the opportunity to show my support for the queer community by playing an LGBTQ+ character, and to help tell an endometriosis storyline.

‘Together, I truly feel we honored both of those stories in a way that mattered. Now, it feels like the right time for both Kristina and me to step into new adventures,’ she added.

Valentini, 63, was equally praising, telling the outlet that he was delighted to see her turning a new page. ‘We love Kate and support her decision to leave. The door is always open, and we appreciate all that she added to the show these past three years.’

Mansi has been exploring work behind the cameras as well, and even directed an episode of General Hospital earlier this year.

Speaking to Parade about how she prepared for the opportunity, she said: ‘It was really gratifying to push myself and study so hard for like a year and shadow and be like a sponge and soak up as much as I could and then to be a part of this story behind the scenes to also direct it.’
