While doors may have opened in the showbiz world, Fern Britton has revealed how all four of her children have shunned fame to pursue normal careers.
The former This Morning presenter, 69, revealed despite her contacts none of her kids wanted to follow in her footsteps.
They instead have become a builder, teacher, a trainee nurse and one of her sons has gone into the field of psychology.
Expressing how they had no desire to be nepo babies, Fern said: ‘My elder daughter said to me when she was quite young, “I don’t want to be offensive, but your job is really boring, isn’t it”.’
Fern is mother to twin sons Jack and Harry, 32, and a daughter Grace, 28, from her first marriage to Clive Jones, as well as Winnie, 24, who she shares with ex-husband Phil Vickery.
She told Hello! previously: ‘My daughter Grace is nursing in an emergency unit. I can’t believe how brilliant she is; I’m so proud of her.

‘I bought her a nurse’s kit when she was five and she didn’t like it – she didn’t want to be a nurse!
‘Winnie is amazing. She lives with me and works as a labourer on a building site.’
While Fern’s children haven’t pursued careers in the showbiz world, Phillip Schofield’s daughter has.
Molly, 33, had worked at the London-based firm YMU, which also represents the likes of Ant and Dec, Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall, for at least six years.
In 2024, she parted company with the talent agency that represented him for more than 30 years following his admission that he had an affair with a much younger colleague and lied about it.
She then acted as her dad’s publicist.
In Fern’s interview with The Guardian, the presenter spoke about her resignation in 2009 and their fall out.
The pair presented This Morning together for seven years from 2002 until 2009 when Fern departed the programme and was replaced by Holly Willoughby.

It was claimed at the time her departure was due to the fact she was ‘sick of living in Phil’s shadow’ while he was paid ‘three times her salary’, before she admitted in a 2013 interview that ‘we’re not in touch now’.
She said of her exit: ‘I don’t really want to go into that. I probably won’t ever but yes, it was a day that turned on a sixpence, and suddenly I thought: “I’ve got to get out of here”.’
Fern addressed her fall out with Phil and how he stepped down from This Morning over the affair scandal.
She said: ‘It was very mixed emotions for me, that one. I can’t really explain it, because we did have a very good working relationship until we didn’t, so it was tricky. I wish him well and I hope it all settles down and he finds some happiness’.
Fern’s children aren’t the only ones who have shunned fame to pursue normal jobs.
Harry Hill’s three daughters Kitty, 28, Winifred, 27, and Frederica, 21, have all favoured a career like their artist mother and shunned the spotlight – and the huge salaries that it comes with.
Kitty is a ceramist, Winifred a painter and Frederica works in the textile industry.
Meanwhile, Gary Barlow’s son Daniel has so far pursued a more studious path and studied medicine at university.
The Take That singer’s daughter Emily has also gone into the sciences, studying physiology.
Jamie Oliver’s daughter, Daisy, 23, is training to be a nurse while Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Megan, 28, is a police officer after graduating with a psychology degree.
