Eric Dane reportedly “reconnected” with ex-girlfriend Priya Jain prior to his death.
“In the months leading up to Eric’s passing Priya and Eric reconnected their relationship as friends,” a source told Us Weekly on Friday.
The insider told the outlet that “it was more important for them to remain friends” after their breakup over the summer.
Of the “Grey’s Anatomy” star’s death on Thursday, Jain was said to have been taken aback.
“Priya didn’t think it would happen this quickly,” the source noted of Dane’s battle with ALS — which he announced in April of 2025.
The source shared that Jain “has so much love” for the “Euphoria” star, adding that “he was such a special person.”
They also shared that Jain “has a lot of love for his family” and “knows how hard this is for his daughters.”
While Jain is said by the outlet to be “so sad and devastated,” their source added that she’s “grateful” his daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, “exist to keep his memory alive.”
Reps for Jain and Dane did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday. The former couple reportedly “dated for one year,” a source previously divulged to the outlet in June.
Their sudden split came as Dane was spotted at the Los Angeles premiere of “Countdown” with director Janell Shirtcliff — a development that was said to have left Jain “blindsided.”
“They never broke up,” a source told Page Six at the time. Our source said Jain and the “Brilliant Minds” actor met in the summer of 2024 and became “exclusive” that November.
Dane was subsequently diagnosed with ALS, which he announced in April 2025. They were last photographed together in May 2025.
Despite Dane’s public appearances with both Jain and Shirtcliff, Dane’s wife, Rebecca Gayheart, called off their divorce in March 2025 amid the actor’s battle with the debilitating condition.
Gayheart later explained that she made the move in order to teach their daughters to be there for family even “when times are at their worst.” She also explained that they hadn’t lived together for eight years.
Following the “Euphoria” actor’s death at the age of 53, Jain took to Instagram Stories on Saturday with a tribute.
She shared a quartet of black and white photos, one in which she snuggled up to him. “You truly were a black leather jacket in a world of tan cardigans,” she wrote atop the pics, adding white heart and dove emojis.
