Emma Watson has confirmed her new romance with billionaire entrepreneur Gonzalo Hevia Baillares as the couple enjoyed a passionate kiss during a trip to Mexico.

The Harry Potter star, 35, was thought to be dating Kieran Brown last year, but has now moved on to the Mexican businessman.

Snaps of the couple showed them packing on the PDA while in the Mexico City airport while surrounded by security guards.

Since then, they have been seen multiple times throughout Mexico’s capital as well as on a getaway to the exclusive beach resort of Punta Mita.

Gonzalo’s family owned a multi-billion-dollar mining company and his grandfather Alberto Hevia Baillères, who died in 2022, was one of the richest men ever to live in the country with an estimated net worth of $8.6billion.

A source told the Daily Mail: ‘Widely regarded as one of Mexico’s most eligible bachelors, Gonzalo now appears to be deeply smitten and reportedly taking his relationship with Emma seriously – having already introduced her to his parents.

’Without a doubt, Gonzalo and Emma are shaping up to be one of 2026’s most unexpected power couples.’

The couple were first romantically linked after being seen in the French Alps ski resort of Courchevel in December and have now been spotted on a string of outings in Mexico City

Gonzalo is the grandson of Mexican billionaire Alberto Baillères, who died in 2022.

His family are the third wealthiest family in the country and are said to have a net worth of $19billion (£14.2billion).

Gonzalo’s grandfather founded Mexico’s huge conglomerate Grupo BAL, which owns the country’s second-largest mining firm and high end department store El Palacio di Hierro, which is comparable with Harrods.

The heir to the family fortune is currently working as a CEO of an investment firm, HBeyond, in New York and previously founded a smart locker network across Latin America, said to be worth $115million.

He was previously romantically linked with Spanish singer Belinda Peregrín before they broke up in 2024.

The source added: ‘Baillères has kept his romantic life largely private, with only a few public relationships.

‘Between 2023 and 2024, he was involved in a high-profile romance with Spanish-born, Mexican-naturalised actress and singer Belinda.

‘The relationship ended in 2024, and according to sources, the breakup was difficult for the pop star.’

Neither Emma, known for her privacy, or Gonzalo has publicly confirmed their relationship.

In October, Emma was pictured enjoying a ‘romantic’ Italian sunshine getaway with tech tycoon Austin Kevitch.

The outing came just days after denying she was engaged, following speculation at the time that she was still in a relationship with boyfriend Kieran Brown.

The actress had set tongues wagging when she was pictured sporting a ring at the Miu Miu show in Paris Fashion Week that month.

However, she then said on The Jay Shetty Podcast last month that she isn’t engaged and will not be pressured into exchanging vows because it’s seen as the conventional thing to do.

Emma, who has described the pressure to marry as a ‘violence and cruelty’ against women, wore an impressive, vintage-style ring on her engagement finger while attending a Miu Miu catwalk show in the French capital which caused people to question if she was engaged.

But Emma said: ‘I guess having gone through this odyssey, which has been the last seven years, it was like, okay, I feel like I’ve got to a place, and this will continue forever, where I want to celebrate where I ended up after I left land, it felt like.

‘I did a ritual with, I guess just a day of celebrating with my friends and chosen family. They each bought me this ring, which has 22 petals on it, and each of them bought one.’

She added: ‘I’ve just never owned anything so valuable in my life because to me, it represents the life that I’ve built, which was the one that I really wanted, which was one that was made up of community and my roots and faith and trust.

‘In some funny way, it signals to me that even though I have no signs of my success, save for this crazy one-woman play I’ve written, I don’t even have my degree yet, it signals to me that for me, I achieved what I wanted to achieve for myself.’

Emma added: ‘I’m just so happy not to be divorced yet. That sounds like a really negative answer, but I think that we’re being pressured and forced into this thing that I believe is a miracle.

‘I might never be worthy of it. I hope it happens to me, but I don’t feel entitled to it. It will either be part of my purpose here and my destiny, or it won’t.

‘I think the way we treat it as though, Well, why haven’t you? This is something that has to happen in this certain time span and at this certain age in this way. It’s the least romantic thing I can possibly think of.’

‘Truly, if I had tried to get married any point, basically before about a year ago, it would have been carnage. I just didn’t know myself well enough yet. I didn’t have a clear enough idea of what my purpose, my vision, how I was going to be of service.

‘I didn’t know where I really felt like I needed to be. I think I have some of those answers now. So when I meet someone, I can say “Hi, I’m Emma. This is what I care about”.’

She added: ‘I think it’s such a violence and it’s such a cruelty on people, and especially young people, I think, and especially women, to make them feel like they have no worth or like they haven’t succeeded yet in life because they haven’t forced to its culmination, something that I just don’t think can or should ever be forced.

‘It’s something that, honestly, I feel like I’ve had to earn, I’ve had to work for to be in a place where I feel like I can look someone in the eye and be able to tell them who I am and to have some idea – and it will change and grow – of what I want and what I’m here to do.’

In July 2024, Emma was pictured locking eyes with fellow student Kieran while at a bakery in Oxford, and the pair were then seen enjoying a ‘really cute’ date in a country park together.

Emma, who is doing a part-time Master’s degree at Oxford, split from her ex-boyfriend Brandon Green, son of controversial business tycoon Sir Philip, in 2023, following a ‘serious’ romance which lasted around 18 months.

Both of them met each other’s parents and there were holidays including a romantic break in Venice.

Brandon had a reputation as a party-lover and previously dated a number of models. He was once caught patting Kate Moss’ bottom on holiday in St Barths.

It was rumoured that the catalyst for their split was that Emma had some kind of an epiphany connected to her ‘Saturn return’ and decided that she wanted out of the relationship.

In an Instagram post on April 15th to mark her birthday she wrote: ‘This is 33. Holy moly. Before 29 I hadn’t even heard of a Saturn Return as a concept. Let’s just say that now I am well acquainted.’

She went on to write about how she had re-evaluated her life and what she did with it, had learned to surf ‘badly’, ridden horses, done ‘a lot of therapy’ and ‘said goodbye to my Grandma and Grandpa’.

She added: ‘I cut my thumb nail off on both hands trying to cook for myself and then was only able to do things one-handed for months.

‘I felt really sad and really p*ssed off about a lot of things. I learnt more about love and being a woman… It took me three years but I have finally figured out a daily practice and can actually keep it for more than a few days in a row.’

On the topic of ‘love and being a woman’ she didn’t confide about the break-up with Brandon, which she kept private, but the news has now leaked out.

Watson famously remarked during a period when she was single that she was ‘self-partnered’ but by more conventional standards she has been a serial monogamist – and serially unlucky in love.

An early boyfriend was rugby player Tom Ducker. He was followed by a more serious romance with fellow Oxford University students Will Adamowicz and Matt Janney.

She has dated three young tech millionaires, most significantly the entrepreneur William ‘Mack’ Knight. They split in late 2017 after a two year romance. On the rebound she had a six month love affair with handsome Glee actor Chord Overstreet. They broke up during the summer of 2018.

She was then spotted sharing cocktails with tech CEO Brendan Wallace, the co-founder of a venture capital fund.

By the summer of 2019, she had moved on to another tech millionaire, Brendan Iribe, CEO of Oculus. He was followed by businessman Leo Robinton, with whom she spent two years.

In an interview she said: ‘The boyfriends or partners I’ve had have generally made me feel really cherished. They’ve built me up.’

Many may consider Watson very fortunate – thanks to being cast as a child in the Potter films she has more money than she could need and a thriving acting career. But actually she has quite mixed feelings about the fame it brought her and has more than once stepped away from acting.

She was cast in the Harry Potter films at nine years old, having been found via the theatre club she attended. She only completed filming the last Potter when she was 20 years old, in June 2010.

Sources who remember her from the Potter days say that her lawyer father Chris’s influence was paramount, even though she lived with her mother in Oxfordshire.

The star had previously spoken about feeling constricted and stressful while filming the Harry Potter films, leaving her in two minds about carrying on acting.

Emma began dating Kieran after they met while she was studying a part-time Master’s at Oxford University, following her split from Phillip Green’s son Brandon in 2023

When the cast and crew held a wrap party at Harry’s Bar after shooting the final set of reshoots around Christmas 2010, she didn’t come.

She said in 2017: ‘It’s something I’ve really wrestled with. I’ve gone back and I’ve quizzed my parents. When I was younger, I just did it. I just acted, it was just there.

‘I was finding this fame thing was getting to a point of no return. I sensed if this was something I was ever going to step away from it was now or never.’

Post-Potter, Emma’s films have been generally low key, like The Circle, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and The Bling Ring. It’s said that she turned down the La La Land role which brought Emma Stone an Oscar.

Her last film was Little Women, released in 2019 and as her recently founded film companies show, her ambitions now lie on the other side of the camera. As she recently said: ‘I’ve often thought, I’m so wrong for this job because I’m too serious.’

Emma is currently splitting her time between the US and Oxford after signing up for her part-time Masters degree.

She only attends a handful of lectures on site – with security in tow – and completes the rest online.
