NBC‘s Tracy Morgan comedy pilot has added another big name to its cast.
Daniel Radcliffe will star opposite Morgan in the pilot, which comes from several people behind 30 Rock, including executive producer Tina Fey. The show stars Morgan as a disgraced former football player named Reggie who sets out to rehabilitate his image.
Radcliffe will play Arthur Tobin, an award-winning filmmaker who moves into Reggie’s mansion to make an immersive documentary about the one-time star running back.
NBC ordered the pilot earlier this month. The show comes from writer Sam Means (Girls5Eva, 30 Rock), who executive produces with Fey, Morgan and fellow 30 Rock alum Robert Carlock. Universal Television, where Means, Fey and Carlock all have overall deals, is the studio.
Should it go to series, the comedy will mark Radcliffe’s first role in an American broadcast show. He has worked with Fey and Co. in the past, playing roles in Netflix’s movie Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend and the animated series Mulligan.
Radcliffe recently finished a Tony Award-nominated run in a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along. The erstwhile Harry Potter star earned an Emmy nomination in 2023 for playing the lead role in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Other recent credits include TBS’ Miracle Workers and feature film The Lost City. Radcliffe is repped by Artist Rights Group, Avalon Management and Felker Toczek.
