Cindy Crawford is a true professional.
After a decades-long career both on the runway and on the screen, it takes a lot to knock the 60-year-old model off-kilter.
Crawford covers Net-a-Porter’s digital publication Porter, sharing her latest wardrobe malfunction — and it was one that went completely unnoticed by all.
“The dress was so heavy and my heel came out of my shoe right when I walked out and I never got it back in,” she said, speaking of her epic feathered gown from this past spring’s Gucci cruise 2027 show, staged right in Times Square.
“But that dress was so big you couldn’t see it,” she continued, adding, “I was like, ‘Just don’t lose the shoe. Just keep the shoe on. I don’t want to be like Cinderella.’”
Though completely unflappable, Crawford was, in fact, wary of the very public runway, which also included Paris Hilton, Gabbriette and Tom Brady on the catwalk and Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Mariah Carey, Shawn Mendes in the front row.
“Kaia was very supportive and proud of me for doing it because she knew I was like, ‘Wait, is this a good idea or a bad idea?’ and it was such a big show,” she confessed, referring to her supermodel daughter.
And even with decades of experience, she adds, “I think seeing me do something that I had some nerves about is good for her to see.”
So will Crawford be ready to hand over the torch to her daughter completely? Don’t bet on it.
“At times I’ve been tempted to step back more, but I don’t want to add to that idea that women of a certain age need to be more invisible,” she says.
“Even though there are days when I feel like, ‘Oh, why did I say yes to the shoot?’ – or maybe, ‘It’s time,’” Crawford continued, adding, “Modeling really is a skill that you get better at. It’s probably like a football player or a soccer player having to choose when they want to retire. You’re like… but I still like it.”
