Ciara is set to headline at TikTok‘s inaugural TikTok Awards, the platform revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, days before the ceremony is set to take place in Los Angeles this week.
With the awards, TikTok is hoping to fill a gap in recognizing the digital creator ecosystem . Hosted live at the Hollywood Palladium on December 18, the TikTok Awards will stream live on the platform on December 18, and it will air on Tubi as well, where it will also be available to watch on demand the next day. Red Carpet will start on TikTok Live at 5 p.m., and the awards will begin at 6 p.m.
“There’s nothing like performing for a community that loves movement, music, and expression as much as I do,” Ciara said in a statement. “The TikTok platform plays a significant role in entertainment. It is one of the most influential platforms in the world. The TikTok Awards are all about celebrating that spirit, and I’m honored to hit the stage for first-ever show in the US.”
Aside from Ciara, TikTok also unveiled more presenters for the awards, with TikTok creators REI AMI, Tan France, Tefi Pessoa, Justin Danger, Patrick Starrr, Carter Gregory and Ashby Florence all confirmed. They join an already-announced presenter list that includes Paris Hilton, Bethenny Frankel and Trixie Mattel among others.
TikTok isn’t the only major social platform getting in on the Awards game this year, as rival Instagram also unveiled a new program called Instagram Rings earlier this year to recognize the biggest creators on the platform, selected by a panel of judges that include Spike Lee, Marc Jacobs and Instagram head Adam Mosseri.
