Channel Seven veteran reporter Christie Cooper has announced her resignation, after 13 years with the network.

The Melbourne-based reporter recently shared the news on her LinkedIn page, revealing she had stepped down from her role to commence an exciting new venture.

‘After 13 combined years at the Seven Network (with a break in between), I’ve officially handed in my resignation,’ Christie began. 

‘I’m excited for what’s to come in 2026. I’ll be working on getting my new business, Growing Healthier Futures, off the ground, while continuing to freelance as a journalist, presenter, producer and chief of staff.’

Christie added fans could still expect to see her at high-profile events, as she would be presenting at the Australian Open in Melbourne later this month.

‘Starting off with a whirlwind 2 weeks covering the AO for Tennis Australia,’ she wrote.

‘To anyone out there looking for freelancers in the TV, radio or print industries, love to hear from you. 

‘I’m especially keen to take on more investigative journalism work and longer–form content production.

‘To everyone I’ve worked with over the years at Seven, thank you for trusting me with your stories. Bring on 2026!’

Many of Christie’s professional network took to the comments section to offer their well wishes.

‘Well done, CC! I’m proud of you. Over a decade of brilliant work at 7 – they’ve been lucky to have your skill, drive, and integrity. Excited to see what’s coming in the next chapter,’ one person wrote.

‘Best of luck, Coops. Looking forward to seeing you blossom in this next chapter,’ another added. 

Christie began her career with Seven as a local Melbourne reporter in January 2011.

She developed a reputation for her upbeat and enthusiastic nature when conducting reports.

Meanwhile, veteran Channel Nine presenter Ben Avery is also leaving 

In addition to presenting on local crime and human interest stories, Christie also impressed viewers with her ‘green thumb’ reports.

Christie would share a variety of gardening tips, based on her own experience in the field. 

Meanwhile, veteran Channel Nine presenter Ben Avery is also leaving his post after working in their Adelaide office since 2010.

The veteran reporter has accepted a position as chief media advisor for new South Australian Liberal leader Ashton Hurn.
