Carrie Bickmore has shared a concerning post announcing she has been hospitalised, just weeks after stepping down from her Hit Network radio show due to a throat-related illness.

The former Project host, 45, took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday morning with a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed, adding the caption: ‘OK voice… time to come back [crossed fingers emoji].’

Carrie’s post suggested that she had undergone a procedure following her recent health diagnosis.

Last month, Carrie revealed on an episode of the Carrie and Tommy show that her voice was in a ‘bad way’, and that she had been to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist who confirmed she needed treatment.

With her voice cracking, Carrie explained she’d undergone a series of ‘extremely unpleasant’ tests.

Things are not good in there [my throat],’ Carrie explained.

‘And so I have to take some time off work to go get them [my vocal cords] fixed because if I don’t get them fixed now, then they are going to be permanently damaged and that would be very unfortunate for my job,’ she said.

Fighting back tears, Carrie said, talking about her break and her health issues was making her ‘upset’.

‘I’ll be fine, sorry … I don’t know why it’s making me so upset. I just don’t like letting people down, and I don’t like letting myself down.

‘I also really love my job, and I don’t want to be forced to never do it again,’ she continued.

‘So I’m gonna take some time off and go get it fixed.’

Carrie said that she did not know how long her treatment would take or when she would be back on air.

Elsewhere in the segment, Carrie admitted that her voice had not been ‘right’ for some time.

The announcement came only weeks after Carrie had suffered a nasty head injury in an accident.

Sharing an update on her Instagram in April, she said she cut an artery after running into a wall, with the wound reaching the bone.

After revealing that the moment looked like a ‘crime scene’, Carrie shared that she has since undergone treatment for muscle and nerve damage.

Taking to her stories with a photo showing her skull wrapped in a bandage, the radio star shared graphic details about her accident in the caption.

‘So it appears I cut [my scalp] to the bone and cut an artery,’ she began.

‘So the surgeon had to repair nerve and muscle damage! Hurts so much, but on the mend now.’
