Bryan Cranston gets shaved here and intimately groomed there by Jane Kaczmarek just ahead of their characters’ 40th anniversary party in the latest trailer for Hulu’s Malcolm in the Middle reboot to debut on April 10.

“Come on, Dewey. You’ve seen this like a 1000 times… Undergrowth,” Cranston’s Hal then tells Kaczmarek’s Lois to go low with her manscaping groomer while he does a zoom call with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, who plays Dewey in the four-part revival.

The comical moment reflects how life is still chaotic and demonstrably unfair for Malcolm, the genius middle child played by Frankie Muniz as he reunites with Cranston and Kaczmarek and his siblings in their dysfunctional home. “This family’s non-stop anti-social behavior and mindless myopic priorities are toxic to me,” Malcolm screams out in frustration at another point in the latest trailer.

The series also brings back Christopher Kennedy Masterson (Francis), Justin Berfield (Reese) and Emy Coligado (Piama) as they’re joined by new cast members Keeley Karsten as Leah, Malcolm’s daughter, Vaughan Murrae as Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling and Kiana Madeira as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend.

Disney ordered the short-run revival of Malcolm in the Middle last year with series creator Linwood Boomer returning as writer and executive producer. The original series premiered on Fox in January 2000 and ran for seven seasons, with the show earning seven Emmys, including writing and directing awards in 2000 and 2001.

The limited series revival from 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, and New Regency, will also stream on Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally.
