Speedy Morman has become the latest multi-platform journalist to pivot from traditional media to becoming an entrepreneur in Hollywood’s fast-growing creator economy.

Morman has left Complex Networks to join Boardroom, the sports media and entertainment brand founded by NBA star Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman, where his duties include becoming an on-camera host and executive producer.

Morman is also the latest big-name strategic adviser to Boardroom after on-air sports reporter Taylor Rooks joined the media brand as it looks to drive membership around in-person events and a digital community. Other advisers include former NFL star turned TV personality Michael Strahan, musician Mark Ronson and CAA Sports co-head Mike Levine.

“Boardroom will always be rooted in the business of sports and entertainment, and as we continue to grow we’re always going to remain true to our voice. Speedy’s ability to tell amazing stories and connect with talent and audiences alike makes him a perfect representative of that voice and a vital figure in our company’s growth,” Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman said in a statement.

Having created and hosted 360 with Speedy Morman at Complex Networks and co-hosted Spotify’s The Get Up morning show, Morman has extensive experience interviewing personalities in the sports, entertainment, and cultural arenas.

“Boardroom’s already moving how culture moves so this felt natural. For me it’s about building something real, telling stories that actually hit, and creating moments you can feel. Ownership is a big part of that, having real input, real stake, real impact. That’s the lane I’m in and we’re about to take it up a level,” Morman said in his own statement.

Boardroom has also launched a print magazine in partnership with Condé Nast, a new tier of its Boardroom Members Club, and will be part of the CNBC x Boardroom Game Plan summit in July and NBA and WNBA All-Star weekend activations. In addition, Boardroom Sports Holdings invests in sports teams and leagues, including Paris Saint-Germain F.C., the NWSL champions Gotham FC and MLS’ Philadelphia Union.

Boardroom also partners on film and TV series like Two Distant Strangers for Netflix, the AppleTV+ scripted series Swagger and the documentary NYC Point Gods for Showtime.
