The BAFTA Rising Star Award nominees are in, and Hollywood talents Chase Infiniti and Miles Caton are among the up-and-coming actors to watch.

Three Brits line up alongside them: Robert Aramayo for his lead performance in Kirk Jones’ I Swear, a biographical drama about a Scot with Tourette’s syndrome, Saltburn‘s Archie Madekwe, who this year co-starred in Alex Russell’s psychological thriller Lurker, and Posy Sterling, a British Independent Film Award winner for Daisy-May Hudson’s Lollipop.

Infiniti is, of course, the star of Paul Thomas Anderson’s political thriller One Battle After Another — so far the major winner this awards season — and tipped for an Oscar nod for her performance as Willa. Caton has impressed the industry with his first film role in Ryan Coogler’s slick vampire horror Sinners opposite Michael B. Jordan, which took home the Golden Globe for box office achievement on Sunday.

The nominees for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award, now in its 21st year, were unveiled at London’s Savoy Hotel on Wednesday with Aramayo, Madekwe and Sterling in attendance. It is the only BAFTA prize voted for by the British public. Last year, The Long Walk and Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson was named winner.

The nominee announcement follows confirmation of the BAFTA longlists on Friday, which saw One Battle come away on top with 16 mentions, closely followed by Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet and then Sinners. Following just behind them were Josh Safdie’s wild ping-pong caper Marty Supreme (13), Yorgos Lanthimos’ black comedy Bugonia (12) and Guillermo del Toro’s gothic classic Frankenstein (12).

Both Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value and Jon M. Chu’s Wicked: For Good also scored high on the longlists, appearing eight times each. Apart from Wicked, they’re all in contention for best film, as are The Ballad of Wallis IslandNuremberg and I Swear.

Timothee Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael B. Jordan, Jesse Plemons, Cillian Murphy, Ethan Hawke, Harry Melling and more in contention for a best lead actor nomination. Jessie Buckley, Cynthia Erivo, Emma Stone, Renate Reinsve, Rose Bryne and Infiniti will be looking to score a best actress nod, alongside Kate Hudson, Tessa Thompson, Jennifer Lawrence and Andrea Riseborough.
