Bachelor Nation alum Susie Evans is getting candid about her fertility journey as she prepares to freeze her eggs.
“I officially started hormone injections in preparation for my egg retrieval in about two weeks,” Evans, 32, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, May 2, sharing footage of one of her pre-procedure injections. “Yesterday was very emotional for me starting the medication. I felt a combination of fear, sadness and immense gratitude for the science that makes this possible and for the opportunity to freeze my eggs.”
According to Evans, she felt “so overwhelmed” before her first injection.
“I filled my schedule to the absolute brim, knowing I would need to slow down during the two weeks before my egg retrieval,” the former Bachelor finalist explained on Saturday. “Before starting, I had a moment where I reflected on everything that led me here. Honestly, I felt sad for a moment.”
She continued, “I can be pretty hard on myself and sometimes feel discouraged that I haven’t figured out certain parts of my life just yet, but I also felt proud. Even though I don’t have everything figured out, I’ve come so far. I’ve accomplished so much.”
Evans, who previously appeared on her ex-boyfriend Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor, further detailed her accomplishments.
“I’ve traveled solo through multiple countries, lived in Tokyo for years, achieved my dream of becoming Miss Virginia USA, said yes to a crazy TV show … and crossed off so many bucket list items,” Evans wrote. “I’ve had beautiful experiences I never could have imagined, and I feel deeply grateful that I’ve chosen to live my life the way I have. I wouldn’t have many of those experiences if I had chosen a different path for myself.”
Evans explained that she decided to freeze her eggs because she is “still figuring out the marriage and kids chapter” of her future.
“I look at the life I’ve built and the blessing of having the option to freeze my eggs and I feel incredibly grateful,” she stated. “So without further ado, let’s get these eggs on ice, y’all!!!”
After considering her fertility options, Evans revealed last month that she planned to freeze her eggs.
“I, kind of, think when you go through something like this, it gives you the opportunity to choose yourself,” she said in a YouTube vlog published on April 9. “I’m learning so much through this process, but right now I’m just choosing me. I’ve taken a step back from a lot of the things from the relationship I was pursuing, not from my friendships per se, but like I’ve just been taking more space to do things for myself rather than things that are for friendships.”
