Anne Hathaway reflected on her “painful” fertility struggles years before revealing that she is pregnant with baby No. 3.

“I think that we have a very one-size-fits-all approach to getting pregnant,” Hathaway told the Associated Press in 2019 after revealing that she struggled with fertility issues before getting pregnant with her and husband Adam Shulman’s second child.

“And you get pregnant and for the majority of cases, this is a really happy time. But a lot of people who are trying to get pregnant: That’s not really the story. Or that’s one part of the story,” she continued. “And the steps that lead up to that part of the story are really painful and very isolating and full of self-doubt. And I went through that.”

Hathaway, now 43, noted that she “didn’t just wave a magic wand” to get pregnant.

“It’s more complicated than that,” she said.

The actress explained that women often feel like they can’t talk about their fertility issues, even though so many people experience them.

“I was just aware of the fact that when it came time to post that I was pregnant, somebody was going to feel even more isolated because of it,” Hathaway said of her pregnancy announcement at the time, in which she sent “extra love” to those who are or have struggled to get pregnant.

“And I just wanted them to know they have a sister in me,” she said.

The “Princess Diaries” star confirmed that she is pregnant by posting a video of her growing baby bump on her Instagram Friday.

“x Baby, I’m yours x,” she captioned the post.

Page Six also obtained photos of Hathaway covering her growing baby bump with a towel while enjoying a beach day in St. Tropez Wednesday.

Hathaway was enjoying some sun at the Jardin Tropezina beach in the French Riviera with her husband, their two sons and a few friends.

The Academy Award winner and Schulman got married in 2012 and welcomed their first son, 10-year-old Jonathan, four years later. In 2016, they welcomed their second son, 6-year-old Jack.

Years later, Hathaway revealed that she had experienced a miscarriage in 2015.
