Alex Cooper and husband Matt Kaplan are allegedly dealing with “a lot of tension” in their marriage.
A source told the Daily Mail in a story published Sunday that the couple isn’t sleeping in the same bedroom at the moment.
According to the insider, the pair’s “tension” was mounting even before Kaplan was accused of berating and threatening the staff at his and Cooper’s production company, Unwell Network, in a bombshell Bloomberg report last month.
“Matt fully courted Alex and was so sweet with her in the beginning,” the source explained. “Once they moved in together, that’s when things changed.”
Cooper, 31, and Kaplan, 42, first met during a Zoom call in 2020 and got engaged in March 2023.
That same year, the pair co-founded their Trending media company and its Unwell Network subsidiary.
Cooper and Kaplan — who is the founder and CEO of Ace Entertainment — tied the knot in Mexico in April 2024.
The Daily Mail source claimed that Cooper and Kaplan’s decision to combine their businesses so early in their relationship was seen as a red flag by their inner circle.
“Those close to Alex wondered why she got engaged so quickly before the Unwell deal was done,” the insider said. “Now they see it. Matt is too intertwined with Unwell.”
Furthermore, the source alleged that in their business dynamic, Kaplan calls the shots over the “Call Her Daddy” host.
“Matt pushes her to do things in her business,” the source explained. “She doesn’t have a manager. Matt is always in the room. Everything goes through Matt.”
In the Bloomberg report published April 20, insiders close to Unwell Network claimed there are ongoing issues between Kaplan and the company’s staff.
Kaplan has allegedly “earned a reputation for frequently yelling at staff members,” the report claimed.
Some employees have reportedly threatened to walk out in the middle of film sets and live tours due to Kaplan’s alleged behavior.
According to the Daily Mail source, Cooper is struggling to deal with the fallout from the accusations against her husband.
“This is Alex Cooper’s biggest fear: bad press,” the insider stated.
They added, “It matters to her. She wants to control the narrative, always. She is insecure and cutthroat all in one. She really doesn’t have that many friends.”
Page Six has reached out to reps for Kaplan and Cooper for comment.
Cooper has also been making headlines for her feud with Alix Earle, who used to have a podcast on the Unwell Network.
The media mogul urged the TikTok influencer to air whatever issues they have out in the open, instead of hiding behind “passive-aggressive” social media likes, to which Earle responded, “Okay on it!!”
